Key takeaways
  • "good sunscreen for oily skin" (293,287 searches in 7 days), "hyaluronic acid for men" (277,983) and "niacinamide serums how to use" (270,272) were the biggest typed skincare searches on TikTok in the week to 28 September 2026.
  • "0.2 retinol" (98,750) and "cerave moisture" (84,257) are new this week and have no videos matched: the clearest openings for a skincare video right now.
  • Only 16 of 178 skincare topics TikTok returned were typed searches; the rest are topic labels TikTok writes to group searches, so read their millions as category size. Specific ingredients and brands return typed searches; broad words do not.
  • Say the keyword in the first seconds, put it in on-screen text and write it in the caption; #skincare alone sits on about 60 million videos.
  • Acne and sun protection claims can make a product a drug under US rules, and paid or gifted posts must be disclosed in the video.

The top TikTok keywords for skincare this week, by what people typed into search, were "good sunscreen for oily skin" (about 293,000 searches in 7 days), "hyaluronic acid for men" (about 278,000), "niacinamide serums how to use" (about 270,000), "no acne" (about 208,000) and "dry skin face" (about 207,000). Two searches had no videos at all: "0.2 retinol" and "cerave moisture". As people type, TikTok suggests skincare for men, for teenagers, for oily, dry and sensitive skin, and Korean skincare.

This page is for skincare brands, estheticians and beauty creators who want the exact words to put in a video. We ran 20 skincare searches through TikTok's own search data, from broad ones like "skincare" to ingredients and brands, and pulled its autocomplete. Numbers checked 28 September 2026.

One thing surprised us. Of 178 topics TikTok returned, only 16 were phrases people typed. The rest are topic labels TikTok writes itself to group searches, like "at home skincare routines". We list those separately, because their size tells you about a whole category, not one keyword.

What skincare keywords are people searching on TikTok this week?

These are the typed skincare searches in our pulls, ranked by searches in the last 7 days. "Change this week" compares the last day of the week with the first. "Videos" is how many videos TikTok matches to the search. Fewer videos means less competition.

TikTok topic labels for skincare

These are not searches anyone typed word for word. They are TikTok topic labels: phrases TikTok writes to group many searches, most of which jumped from a few thousand on the first day to millions by the last. Use them to see which themes are big, not as keywords to copy.

  • "snail mucin product prices": 4.8 million, no videos matched
  • "skincare routines for boys and teens": 4.8 million
  • "niacinamide before and after results": 4.8 million
  • "at home skincare routines": 4.7 million
  • "CC sunscreen and tinted sun cream": 4.7 million
  • "Korean skincare toners and pads": 4.5 million, no videos matched
  • "Korean sunscreen product recommendations": 3.5 million
  • "zinc and niacinamide facial serums": 2.8 million, no videos matched

TikTok topic labels from the same pulls: 162 of the 178 topics, 33 of them with no videos matched. Full list in the snapshots.

Which skincare searches are rising this week?

  • hyaluronic acid for men: from 1,600 on day one to 277,983, the steepest climb on the list.
  • moisturizing cream cerave: from 1,700 to 95,509. With "cerave moisture" (new, no videos), CeraVe is the only brand name that came back as a typed search in our pulls.
  • niacinamide serums how to use and 0.2 retinol: both new this week. "0.2 retinol" most likely means a 0.2% retinol product, a low strength.
  • vitamin c serums before and after (+191%), no acne (+173%) and niacinamide results (+102%): people want to see what a product did for someone else.

Three dipped: "when to use niacinamide in routine" (−30%), "is hyaluronic acid good" (−20%) and "fade dark spots" (−13%). They still pull about 90,000 to 150,000 searches a week, so they are steady questions worth answering.

Which skincare keywords have the least competition?

A keyword with real searches and few videos is where a new video has the best chance of showing up. TikTok flags a search with no matched videos as a content gap.

We left out "hyaluronic acid shot" (0 videos). It most likely means an injection: the same search returned labels about filler and injection complications. That is a medical procedure, not a skincare keyword. At the label level, Korean toner pads, snail mucin prices and zinc with niacinamide serums show millions of searches and zero videos. Our content gap guide explains how to read them.

Skincare keywords grouped by what people want

Routines

Keywords: "skincare routine", "skin care at home", "when to use niacinamide in routine", "skincare for men", "skincare for teenager". Labels here reach 4.8 million, led by routines for boys and teens. Film the routine in order and say "my skincare routine for dry skin" (or your version) in the first few seconds.

Skin concerns

Keywords: "good sunscreen for oily skin", "no acne", "dry skin face", "fade dark spots", "skincare for oily skin", "skincare for sensitive skin". These are the biggest typed searches. Put the skin type in on-screen text in the first frame, since people scan for their own skin type before they watch.

Ingredients

Keywords: "hyaluronic acid for men", "niacinamide serums how to use", "vitamin c serums before and after", "is hyaluronic acid good", "niacinamide results", "0.2 retinol". Say the ingredient and the question together: "how to use niacinamide serum".

Product types

Keywords: "moisturizing cream cerave", "cerave moisture", "skincare products", "skincare recommendations", "moisture me moisturize me". Show the product in hand and say its type, not just its name. "the ordinary" returned no skincare topics at all, only phrases about ordinary life, so a brand name alone can miss.

K-beauty

Keywords: "skincare korean" (as TikTok suggests it), plus labels for Korean sunscreen reviews and recommendations, toner pads and BB creams. Pair "Korean" with the product type, for example "Korean sunscreen for oily skin".

Budget and dupes

None of our 20 searches returned a budget or dupe keyword this week. The nearest are "skin care viral" and "skincare recommendations" from autocomplete, and the label "snail mucin product prices". For product searches driven by TikTok, see TikTok made me buy it.

How to use skincare keywords in a TikTok video

TikTok says it uses details like captions, sounds and hashtags to understand a video (TikTok Help Center). Creators report that what you say and show on screen counts too. So put the keyword in three places:

  1. Say it in the first seconds. "This is a good sunscreen for oily skin."
  2. Put it in on-screen text. Use the exact search, like "0.2 retinol for beginners".
  3. Write it in the caption. One plain sentence with the keyword, then two or three hashtags.

Hashtags help less than you think. #skincare has about 980 billion lifetime views across 60 million videos, so one more video tagged with it is hard to find. #skincaretips has about 122 billion views and #skincaretutorial about 828 million (hashtag snapshot, 19 September 2026). Our guides on TikTok SEO, how TikTok search works and hashtags vs keywords go deeper.

What do the top videos for "good sunscreen for oily skin" do?

TikTok returned seven videos for the top keyword on 28 September. The first result is a 30-second recommendation of one sunscreen for oily, acne-prone skin, with about 43,000 plays. It ranks above a three-sunscreen comparison with 9.4 million plays, so relevance beats raw views in search.

The pattern across all seven: each recommends specific sunscreens. Four captions contain the words "oily skin" and six use an oily-skin hashtag. Lengths run from 25 seconds to about 3 minutes, with a middle value of 64 seconds. Two carry a brand's discount code, the kind of connection the FTC says to disclose in the video itself.

Watch your claims and label paid posts

In the US, a claim to treat acne or protect from the sun makes a product a drug (or a cosmetic and a drug) in the eyes of the FDA, even in a social video (FDA, current as of 11 September 2024). The FTC's Health Products Compliance Guidance (December 2022) covers cosmetics and expects health claims to be backed by solid scientific evidence. If a brand pays or gifts a creator, the FTC says to disclose it in the video itself, not only in the caption (Disclosures 101, November 2019). TikTok's Branded Content Policy (updated 4 August 2026) also requires the commercial content disclosure setting and bans false or misleading claims.

Pull the same numbers for your product line

These numbers change every week, and your product line has its own words. Broad words return mostly labels, so search specific ingredients, product types and brand names. An agent can run the check for you.

Paste this into your agent

Using TokConnect, search TikTok topics for each of these: [your product type, key ingredient, skin concern, brand name]. Keep only searches under 1,000,000 a week that read like something a person typed (the rest are TikTok topic labels) and list each with its 7-day searches, change from the first to the last day of the week, and videos matched. Then get search suggestions for [your product type]. Flag any keyword over 20,000 searches with fewer than 500 videos, and suggest one video idea for each that uses the exact keyword and makes no medical claims.

Frequently asked questions

What are the best TikTok keywords for skincare?

In TikTok's search data for the week to 28 September 2026, the biggest typed skincare searches were "good sunscreen for oily skin" (293,287), "hyaluronic acid for men" (277,983), "niacinamide serums how to use" (270,272), "no acne" (208,295) and "dry skin face" (206,837). The best one for you pairs real searches with few videos: "0.2 retinol" and "cerave moisture" had none.

What skincare is trending on TikTok right now?

This week, "hyaluronic acid for men" climbed from 1,600 searches a day to about 278,000, "moisturizing cream cerave" rose from 1,700 to about 95,000, and "niacinamide serums how to use" and "0.2 retinol" appeared from nothing. TikTok's largest skincare topics are routines for boys and teens, at-home routines, niacinamide results and tinted sunscreen. The beauty trends table tracks the wider category weekly.

What are good skincare TikTok hashtags?

#skincare, #skincaretips, #skincareproducts and #skincaretutorial are the main ones. #skincare has about 980 billion lifetime views across 60 million videos, so it is very crowded. Use two or three hashtags and put a specific keyword, like "skincare for dry skin", in your words, on-screen text and caption. See hashtags vs keywords.

How do I find beauty keywords for TikTok?

Type your product or skin concern into TikTok search and note the autocomplete suggestions, then check each in Creator Search Insights (in the TikTok app, or on desktop at tiktok.com/csi) for search popularity. An agent can pull the same numbers for a list of keywords at once; the prompt on this page shows how.

Where do I put keywords in a TikTok video?

In three places: say the keyword out loud in the first few seconds, put it in on-screen text, and write it in the caption in a plain sentence. TikTok says it reads captions, sounds and hashtags to understand videos. Our TikTok SEO guide covers the details.

Can skincare brands say a product clears acne on TikTok?

Be careful. In the US, the FDA treats a product meant to treat acne as a drug, and the FTC expects health claims to be backed by solid scientific evidence. TikTok's Branded Content Policy also bans false or misleading claims. Describe how a product feels and how you use it, and disclose any paid or gifted partnership.
