Cole Gibbs's teaser sound: TikTok listed 101 videos on it on 8 October 2026.
Track 01

Which sounds are hot, and how big they really are

TikTok keeps a list of hot sounds. On 8 October 2026 it returned six. The top one, "Hey, look at this! Look!Hey!" by aqunos, sat under 1,735,742 videos. The last two had 6 and 3.

So "hot" is a list, not a size. Check how many videos use a sound before you build a campaign on it. Your genre works the same way: TikTok counts 674,555 videos on John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads" and 336 on Navi Skye's "Southern Girl (Country Love Song)".

A big count means a crowded sound. A small one can still be early. The count tells you which of the two you are looking at. Our guide on how to find trending sounds on TikTok covers where TikTok shows them.

Followers did not decide views. Owen James has 733,100 followers, and his release post had 7,441 views. Cole Gibbs, with 192,200, reached 139,700 on a teaser.

The biggest video in the top 20, Mack Geiger's "String By" from May, had 2.6 million views. One hit like that sits far above a normal post, so plan on the median.

A sound's own count shows how far a song has spread. TikTok listed 381 videos on "Us Again" and 101 on Cole Gibbs's teaser sound.

What people type about country songs

Start with your genre, not with "trending songs". Of the 20 topics TikTok returns for "trending songs", 18 are TikTok's own grouped labels with over a million each, not phrases people typed.

Country gives cleaner data. Eight typed searches about country songs each passed 120,000 in 7 days. Three had no matching videos.

The biggest gap is seasonal. "hoco transition ideas country songs" drew 262,526 searches and "hoco poster ideas country songs" 146,526, with 0 videos for either. People planning homecoming videos want a country song, and no video answers that exact search.

What fans comment on a teaser

Cole Gibbs posted a teaser on 7 October with the caption "This song drops tomorrow NIGHT". It reached 139,700 views. The caption did not say what the song was called.

We read its 50 top comments. 6 asked for the song's name. The first in TikTok's order wanted the name so they could download it at midnight. Others set reminders, asked for the song early and asked for a Spotify link.

His post a day earlier had named it, "Read My Mind". For your own release, put the title in the caption and on screen, so a fan who wants the song can find it on release night.

Questions musicians ask

Should I tease a song on TikTok before it comes out?

It is common: 5 of the top 20 "new country song" videos we pulled on 8 October 2026 teased an unreleased track. Name the song in the caption. On one teaser with 139,700 views and no title, 6 of the 50 top comments asked what the song was called.

Can TikTok data tell me if a song will go viral?

No. It shows what is happening now: how many videos use a sound, who posts it, what people search and what they comment. TokConnect pulls those numbers from TikTok for any sound or genre, which helps you pick a hook and a moment, not predict a hit.

How do I check how many videos use a sound on TikTok?

Open the sound's page in the TikTok app, or ask TokConnect for the sound's detail, which returns the count TikTok reports. On 8 October 2026 TikTok reported 381 videos for "Us Again" by Gavin Adcock and Treaty Oak Revival, and 674,555 for "Take Me Home, Country Roads".

How do I see what people search on TikTok about my genre?

Creator Search Insights shows one topic at a time. TokConnect returns TikTok's 7-day search counts for every phrase around a genre as one table, with video counts. For country, "hoco transition ideas country songs" drew 262,526 searches in 7 days with no matching videos.

How we got these numbers

We pulled public TikTok data through TokConnect on 8 October 2026:

  • hot_sounds for TikTok's hot list, search_sounds for "country song" (20 sounds) and sound_detail for three sounds;
  • search_videos for "new country song" (20 videos, each with its sound);
  • search_topics for "trending songs" and "country songs" (20 records each);
  • audience_demographics for "CountrySong" (last 30 days);
  • video_comments (50 top comments) on Cole Gibbs's 7 October teaser.

Search counts are TikTok's global 7-day search popularity from Creator Search Insights. Every phrase quoted is under 1 million searches and treated as a typed search; TikTok's grouped labels are left out. Video counts per sound are what TikTok reports for that sound. Artists are named as TikTok lists them on their sounds and accounts; curator, fan and other individual accounts are described, not named. Open the data.
