You post three or four times a week, and the hard part is not filming. It is Sunday night, deciding what the next three videos are about, and knowing whether anyone is actually searching for it. TikTok creator tools mostly tell you what already happened to your account. This one tells you what people typed into TikTok's search bar in the last seven days, in your niche, before you shoot anything.
What you'd ask on day one
These are real prompts and real answers, pulled on 19 September 2026 for a thrift-flip account. Swap the niche for yours.
This week's topics
I make thrift flip videos. Pull TikTok's search topics for "thrift flipping" and "thrifting" and show me the biggest ones by searches in the last 7 days, with how many videos already cover each.
| Topic | Searches, 7 days | Videos |
|---|---|---|
| thrift business for beginners | 4,553,522 | 482 |
| thrift stores and thrifting spots | 4,240,178 | 612 |
| thrifting and thrift store basics | 3,639,607 | 417 |
| thrift shops and thrift finds | 3,166,016 | 1,034 |
| thrift market selling and flipping | 2,492,147 | 0 |

Where the gap is
Which of those topics have no videos matched to them yet, and is search for them going up or down across the week?
- thrift market selling and flipping: 2,492,147 searches, 0 videos. The 7-day series runs 2,300 → 33,309 → 108,432 → 186,856 → 506,651 → 807,442 → 2,492,147.
- thrifted track jackets sourcing: 4,344,634 searches, 0 videos.
- thrifting dresses: 227,877 searches, 0 videos.
- easy thrift flip: 110,788 searches, 0 videos.
The top countries on the first topic came back as Ghana and South Africa, so a US-only creator should check that before building a week around it.

What already ranks
Show me the videos TikTok returns for "thrift flip tutorial", with views, comments and length, and tell me what each one does.
| Video | Views | Length |
|---|---|---|
| @i_thriftflip, hoodie into a v-neck top | 3,111,473 | 67s |
| @i_thriftflip, cardigan into a halter top | 684,664 | 64s |
| @cowgirlsosa, shirt cut and resewn | 573,180 | 102s |
| @xo.xothea, reply to a comment, sew along | 240,608 | 120s |
| @bellza_m, requested tutorial | 188,977 | 159s |
One garment, one transformation, about a minute. Two of the six results came from the same account, and two are replies to a comment.

One number to read correctly: "thrift flip tutorial" shows 139,830 searches and 0 videos in Creator Search Insights, while TikTok search still returns plenty of thrift flip videos. The video count is how many videos TikTok has matched to that exact topic, and a zero is the signal behind its content-gap badge. More on what the badge means.
What it replaces
| What you do today | Tool | What it shows | What TokConnect adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scroll the suggested topics and screenshot the good ones | Creator Search Insights, in the app or at tiktok.com/csi (free) | Topics with 7-day search popularity, a trend chart, content-gap flags, related videos | The same numbers for any phrase you type, twenty topics at a time, as text you can keep. No export, history or API exists in either version. |
| Open analytics after a post lands | TikTok Studio (free) | Views, watch time, traffic sources, follower activity for videos you already made | Demand for videos you have not made yet |
| Ask ChatGPT for video ideas | ChatGPT (free or paid) | Plausible ideas from training data, with nothing from TikTok search behind them | The same chat, with this week's search counts and video counts attached to each idea |
| Schedule the week and check benchmarks | Later ($25 a month) or Metricool (free, paid from $20) | Scheduling, hashtag suggestions, your own analytics, competitor benchmarks | The demand behind the post, before it is scheduled. Neither of them shows TikTok search volume. |
| Check what a bigger account in your niche posts | TikTok search, by hand | Their videos, one screen at a time | The top results for a query with views, likes, comments and length in one table |
| Read the comments for your next idea | The comment section | Comments, in a phone-sized window, newest or top first | Up to fifty comments per call in front of the agent, so it can group the questions |
How it fits your week
- Connect once. Sign in, copy your key, paste one config block into whichever assistant you already use. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Gemini all work; the connect page has the exact steps, and Claude Desktop takes about two minutes.
- Ask in chat on planning day. The three prompts above take under a minute each. You are asking your assistant, not learning a dashboard.
- Save the answer. Paste the table into your content calendar with the date on it. Search popularity moves week to week, so the saved table is also a record of what was rising when you filmed.
The numbers come from TikTok's own Creator Search Insights and from TikTok search, pulled live when you ask. Search popularity is searches over the last seven days, global unless a country is picked, and the popularity score is TikTok's own 0 to 100 index. The full definitions are here.
What it does not do: it does not post, schedule, run ads, pull transcripts or touch anything private. It reads what TikTok already shows publicly. It is an independent product and is not affiliated with TikTok.
Straight answers
It is, and you should use it. The catch is that it has no export, no history and no API, in the app or on desktop. If you want twenty topics in a table, a note of what the numbers were last month, or an assistant that can read them while it writes your script, you have to get the data out. That is the whole job here.
They are TikTok's numbers, not ours. Every figure on this page links to the saved response it came from, with the tool name, the arguments and the date. Open the snapshot and check it against what your app shows for the same topic.
Your TikTok account is not involved. You connect with a TokConnect key, never your TikTok login, and nothing posts, follows, likes or automates anything on your profile. What comes back is the public data TikTok already shows creators in search and in Creator Search Insights.
Keep doing that. A model guessing what is trending is guessing from old training data. Connected to TokConnect, the same chat can check whether the idea it just suggested has 3 million searches or 300, and whether anyone has made the video.
The plan that fits
Start free: new accounts get 100 credits and every tool, no card. One tool call is one credit, so a weekly planning session like the one above (three topic searches, four or five topic openings, a video check, a comment pull) runs about 12 to 15 credits. That is six or seven weeks on the free credits, and they do not refill. If the ritual sticks, Starter at $49 a month gives you 1,000 credits a month, more than one account needs, with room for a second niche or a monthly audit of ten topics. See the plans.

Questions creators ask
What are some free tools for TikTok creators?
TikTok gives you three for nothing: Creator Search Insights for search demand, TikTok Studio for your own analytics, and CapCut for editing. Between them you get what people search for, what your videos did, and a way to cut them. None of the three exports data or lets an AI assistant read it, which is the gap TokConnect fills.
How do I get Creator Tools on TikTok?
Creator tools sit under Profile → Menu → Creator tools in the app, and Creator Search Insights also opens by searching creator search insights in the app or by logging in at tiktok.com/csi. You need an adult account in a supported region, and TikTok rolls features out gradually.
Why is my TikTok not showing Creator Tools?
Usually region, account age or app version. Update the app, check you are 18 or over, and search the exact phrase rather than hunting through menus. Our troubleshooting guide lists every cause we have seen, including what to do when the tool never appears for your account.
Do I need a big account for this to be worth it?
No. Search demand is the same number whether you have 800 followers or 800,000, and a topic with a zero video count is easier to win when nobody has covered it. What changes with size is the Searches by followers tab inside TikTok's own tool, which needs 1,000 followers.
