  • The top video for "workout" is 6.4 seconds long with the keyword first in its caption; all seven results were under 30 seconds.

The TikTok keywords for fitness that people typed most this week are Hyrox searches, "#workout" (332,700 searches in seven days), "ProteinGoals", "no creatine", "before and after pilaties", "In the gym" and "guys pilates". Hyrox, the fitness race, tops the list, and pilates and protein fill most of the rest. "guys pilates" and "before and after pilaties" have the fewest videos for their size, so they are the easiest big searches to rank for. Numbers checked 28 September 2026, straight from TikTok's own search data.

This page is for fitness creators, personal trainers and gyms. You get the top 20 typed searches with their weekly change and video counts, the ones rising, the ones with little competition, and keyword groups for beginner, home, gym, women's, weight loss and nutrition videos. Say the keyword out loud in the first seconds, put it on screen, and write it in the caption.

What fitness keywords do people search on TikTok this week?

We asked TikTok for its top search topics on 15 fitness words and phrases, from "workout" and "gym" to "calorie deficit", "hyrox" and "12 3 30 workout". That gave 150 topics. Only 24 are phrases people actually type. The rest are topic labels TikTok writes itself. Here are the top 20 typed searches.

Data: TikTok Creator Search Insights via TokConnect, pulled 28 September 2026. "7-day searches" is TikTok's Search popularity: searches over the last seven days, worldwide. "Change over the week" compares the last day of TikTok's 7-day chart with the first; "from near zero" means the first day was under 5% of the last. Spellings are TikTok's. The other four typed searches (hyrox rowing, No protein, dc pilates, trying pilates) are in the snapshots. First nine seeds, six more seeds.

Horizontal bar chart of the top 20 fitness searches people typed on TikTok in the seven days to 28 September 2026. sydney hyrox leads with about 1 million searches, then the hyrox incident with about 556,000 and #workout with about 333,000. Most of the rest sit between 90,000 and 330,000, and Whats protein is last with about 73,000.

"Matched videos" is how many videos TikTok ties to the topic. Big searches with few videos are where a new video has the best shot. More in TikTok search volume explained.

Three of the biggest are not training searches. "sydney hyrox" peaked early in the week and fell 96%. "the hyrox incident" is news about a Hyrox race in Beijing on 12 September (ESPN), and "a win is a win hyrox" reads like a meme. Hyrox itself is busy, though: "The Hyrox", "Hyrox nyc" and "Hyrox at home" are all real training interest.

What are TikTok's own fitness topic labels?

These are not phrases people typed. They are TikTok topic labels: groups TikTok builds to bundle many searches under one name. Their numbers show a busy category, not an exact phrase to copy.

  • "easy ways to reach daily protein": 119,559,016 searches, 0 videos (TikTok label)
  • "home workout routine for busy days": 72,842,979 searches, 583 videos (TikTok label)
  • "Quick home workout for endurance": 13,309,105 searches, 176 videos (TikTok label)
  • "home workout for a toned look": 6,736,273 searches, 366 videos (TikTok label)
  • "fitness training routines and workouts": 4,800,998 searches, 871 videos (TikTok label)
  • "optimal workout sets and reps": 4,782,064 searches, 682 videos (TikTok label)

The first four stayed high all week. The last two, like 114 other labels in our pull, started the week at about 10,000 searches or fewer and ended it between 2.1 and 4.8 million. Treat them as a sign of what the category cares about: home workouts and protein stand out.

Which fitness searches are rising this week?

Fifteen of the 24 typed searches went up over the week. The clearest climbers:

  • workout full body at home: up 1,666% across TikTok's 7-day chart, from 5,199 to 91,790.
  • 12 3 30 workout explained: up 1,216%, from 12,693 to 167,016.
  • pilatws (a typo for pilates): up 430%, from 17,701 to 93,809.
  • #workout: up 145%, from 136,059 to 332,700.
  • guys pilates: up 52%, from 152,554 to 232,230.
  • hyrox patch: from 499 to 205,897.
  • Hyrox at home: from 699 to 146,156.
  • how to do runs: from 1,199 to 112,266.

Small searches jump around. "Gym ah" read zero on two days and 98,370 on the last, so judge a riser over several days, not one spike.

Which fitness keywords have low competition?

These six have more than 200,000 searches a week and about 1,000 videos or fewer. We divided searches by videos to rank them and left out the news and meme searches.

Data: TikTok Creator Search Insights, pulled 28 September 2026. Searches per video is our calculation, rounded. Snapshot.

Compare "#workout" and "In the gym": about 13 and 11 searches per video. They get the most searches, but you'd be one of more than 20,000 videos. Among the labels, 17 had zero matched videos, including "pilates boards and ab wheels" and "12 3 30 treadmill workout method". Those zeros are TikTok's content-gap signal, and our content gap guide explains how to read them.

Best TikTok keywords for gym, home and other fitness goals

Here are the keywords grouped by what the viewer wants. Typed searches carry their numbers. Autocomplete phrases (what TikTok's search box suggests as you type) have no count but show real typing.

Beginner

Use: "12 3 30 workout explained" (167,016), "how to do runs" (112,266), "trying pilates" (34,103), and autocomplete "workout routine" and "workout full body". The top workout video in our pull tags #beginnersfitness. Open with the words a beginner would say: "If you're trying pilates for the first time, start here."

Home workouts

Use: "workout full body at home" (91,790, up 1,666% this week), "Hyrox at home" (146,156), and autocomplete "workout at home". The labels "home workout routine for busy days" (72.8 million) and "Quick home workout for endurance" (13.3 million) show how big the demand is. Put the time and the place on screen: "10-minute workout at home, no equipment."

Gym

Use: "#workout" (332,700), "In the gym" (235,129), "The Hyrox" (203,898), and autocomplete "gym workout for men", "gym trainer" and "gym motivational videos". For gyms, "Hyrox nyc" (155,453) and "dc pilates" (45,586) show people search a class or race with a city name. Say your city and class type in the caption. Gym owners can also note the label "opening and funding a gym" (4.7 million).

Women's fitness

Use: autocomplete "workout women" and "gym workout women", plus "before and after pilaties" (245,326). All ten topics TikTok returned for "gym workout women" were labels, such as "women's gym arm workouts" (3.8 million), so the autocomplete phrases are your best typed wording here. "guys pilates" (232,230) is the flip side: men looking for pilates, with only 285 videos.

Weight loss

All ten topics TikTok returned for "weight loss" were labels, such as "step by step weight loss" (4.7 million). The more concrete "calorie deficit" gave one typed search: "How to do a calorie deficit" (137,731, up 36%). This is also the group where TikTok's rules bite hardest, so read the warning below before you post.

Nutrition and protein

Use: "ProteinGoals" (250,975), "no creatine" (246,925), "Whats protein" (73,107) and "No protein" (49,675). The label "easy ways to reach daily protein" had 119.6 million searches and zero matched videos, the biggest gap in the whole pull. A simple "what I eat to hit my protein goal" video fits both.

How do you use fitness keywords for TikTok videos?

Don't rely on hashtags alone. TikTok hasn't published how much each part of a video counts in search, but it turns speech into captions automatically, and top results often carry the search phrase as text on screen. So put the keyword in all three places. Our guides on how TikTok search works and TikTok SEO cover the detail.

  1. Say it in the first seconds. "Here's a full body workout at home" is both a hook and a keyword.
  2. Put it on screen. Add a text box with the exact phrase in the opening frame.
  3. Write it in the caption. Lead with the keyword, then add a line about who the video is for.
  4. Add a few hashtags. TikTok allows five at most. Fitness TikTok hashtags in this week's top workout results included #fitnesstok, #GymTok, #homeworkout and #fullbodyworkout. Hashtags help, but the words matter more. See hashtags vs keywords.

What does the top-ranking workout video do?

The first video TikTok returned for "workout" on 28 September 2026 is 6.4 seconds long. It shows a full body workout, and the caption opens with the keyword, then asks viewers to save it. Five hashtags follow, including #beginnersfitness and #fullbodyworkout. Posted on 10 September, it had 1,687,663 plays and 29,883 saves when we checked.

All seven videos TikTok returned were under 30 seconds, with a middle length of about 14 seconds, and six of the seven captions contain "workout" in the text or a hashtag. Short demos with the keyword in the caption rank for this search.

Be careful with weight-loss and body claims

TikTok's Community Guidelines do not allow content that shows or promotes disordered eating or dangerous weight loss. Videos about potentially harmful weight management are limited to adults and kept off the For You feed. TikTok also blocks whole searches: in June 2025 it blocked search results for #SkinnyTok, which now shows eating disorder support resources instead of videos (Today, updated 4 June 2025). So skip "lose 10 kg in a week" promises, extreme diets and supplement claims. Show the routine, the food or the progress in strength instead.

How do you find keywords for your own fitness niche?

These numbers come from Creator Search Insights, TikTok's search tool for creators, in the app or on desktop at tiktok.com/csi (login required). It has no export or history. An AI agent can pull the same numbers for your sub-niche, such as kettlebells or marathon training.

Paste this into your agent

Using TokConnect, search TikTok topics for [my fitness niche, e.g. kettlebell workouts] and three related words. List every topic with its 7-day searches, the change from the first to the last day of the week, and how many videos TikTok matches. Split typed searches from TikTok-generated topic labels (over 5 million, a curve that climbs from near zero every day, or a phrase that reads like a summary). Then show the typed searches with the most searches per video, and give me one video idea for each with the keyword to say in the first three seconds.
