The best faceless TikTok ideas are the ones people are already searching for and nobody has answered yet. On 21 September 2026 the topic "true crime storyteller" had 275,162 searches in seven days and not one video matched to it. "python heart code tutorial" had 259,577 searches against 104 videos. Both are things you can make with a microphone and a screen.

Every other list of faceless niches is the same twenty guesses: motivation quotes, Reddit stories, AI voiceover facts. This one ranks 25 niches on TikTok's own numbers, searches in the last week and videos already matched, then checks which faceless format actually holds the top results in eight of them. The snapshots are linked under each table.

What faceless means on TikTok now

Faceless means the subject of the video is something other than you: a screen, a pair of hands, a product, a map, a stack of photos with text on them. It does not mean anonymous stock footage with a robot voice. TikTok's search results reward a specific answer to a specific phrase, and a specific answer rarely needs a face.

Seven formats do most of the work: screen recordings (Excel, iPhone settings, a booking site), hands-only (cooking, soap cutting, gardening), product close-ups, voiceover over footage or archive images, text on b-roll, quiz cards, and photo slideshows. Slideshows changed the economics. A photo post is a swipeable stack of up to 35 images with a sound behind it, and it ranks in TikTok search next to video. In our pull below, the top wallpaper slideshow had 7.6M plays and the top NYC one 3.5M, from a camera roll and a text tool. The slideshow guide covers how they rank; 40 slideshow ideas has the formats with real numbers.

The catch with slideshows comes in the money section: TikTok pays for them in affiliate sales and app installs, not through the Creator Rewards Program.

How these ideas were ranked

Two numbers from Creator Search Insights, TikTok's own search tool. 7-day searches is the figure TikTok labels "Search popularity" on a topic page: searches worldwide over the last seven days. Videos is how many videos TikTok has matched to the topic; zero is the signal behind its content-gap badge. Divide one by the other and you get room: searches per video. The search volume guide covers both in detail.

We searched 28 faceless-friendly phrases, five topics each, and kept 25. TikTok returns two kinds of topic. Organic ones read like something a person typed ("monthly budget spreadsheet") and carry a week of jagged history. Generated clusters read like two nouns joined by "and", score 85 to 87 on popularity, climb from a few thousand to millions in seven days, and often show zero videos. A cluster's number is TikTok's estimate for a category, so typed phrases rank first here by room, and clusters rank after them by fewest videos. Find a niche shows how to spot the clusters.

25 faceless TikTok ideas, ranked by demand and gap

Rows 1 to 14 are typed phrases, ranked by searches per video. Rows 15 to 25 are TikTok's category clusters, ranked by how few videos they have. The format column is what holds the top results where we checked (next section) or what the topic's wording asks for where we did not.

Data: TikTok Creator Search Insights via TokConnect, pulled 21 September 2026. Bold topics are typed phrases; italic topics are TikTok-generated clusters and carry a category-level estimate. Open the snapshot (all 28 searches, 140 topics, with the classification).

1. True crime, told over documents

"true crime storyteller" is the only typed phrase in the set with no videos matched: 275,162 searches and an empty shelf. Its sibling "true crime storytellers" has 454 videos, so the demand is real and the singular is the gap. The format is a voiceover over court documents, maps and archive stills. Say the phrase in the caption and on the first frame.

2. Small Python programs, typed on screen

"python heart code tutorial" gets 259,577 searches against 104 videos, or 2,496 searches per video. People want a short program that draws something. The whole video is an editor and a result. The two clusters around it ("Python hand gesture coding tutorials", "flower coding tutorials in HTML Python") both show zero videos, which tells you where the next angles are.

3. City lists for a specific person

The general topic "nyc things to do nyc" has 289,355 searches and 1,279 videos. Add one word and the room opens: "things to do in nyc with gf" has 188,181 searches and 132 videos. It is filed under Dating, not Tourism, which is a hint about who is searching (see below). Slideshows already own this query: the six photo posts we pulled had a median of 1.3M plays.

4. The monthly budget sheet

Three organic topics cover budgeting spreadsheets; "monthly budget spreadsheet" has the most room at 296,870 searches and 583 videos. The ranking format is a screen recording of the sheet being built, with the template sold or given away from the bio. Two of the nine top videos are a person talking; the other seven are a screen.

5. Amazon tech finds

328,801 searches, 735 videos, and every one of the ten top results is a product demo with a link in the bio. This is the most direct money on the list, and the most crowded of the top five. The wedding variant ("Amazon Wedding Finds", 293,411 searches, 682 videos) is a ready-made second account.

What TikTok's own gap list held this week

We also pulled TikTok's live content-gap channel on 21 September: 80 rows, 33 unique topics once the overlapping pages were removed. Seven of the 33 are faceless-friendly, and they were nearly all software.

Data: TikTok Creator Search Insights content-gap channel via TokConnect, pulled 21 September 2026. Open the snapshot. The 19 September list is at /data/content-gaps.json; this week's refresh is on the content gaps page.

Notice the video counts. On 19 September, 78 of the 80 topics on TikTok's gap list showed zero videos; "best trading app" was one of them. Two days later the same topic shows 1,526, "best habit tracker app" went from 0 to 824, and "side hustle online" from 0 to 12,411. Eleven of the twelve topics that appear in both pulls filled in. Either creators moved or TikTok's matching caught up, and from outside you cannot tell which; either way a gap is a week-long window, not a business plan. How the gap flag works.

The formats that rank without a face, measured

For eight niches we pulled the top video results (up to ten, sorted by relevance) and the top photo posts, and read the captions and durations. A caption that describes a list, a tutorial, a recipe, a product, a wallpaper set, a fact or a soap cut counts as a faceless format; a first-person experience or a skit does not. This is inferred from metadata, not from watching 71 videos, so treat the counts as a strong hint.

Data: TikTok video and photo search via TokConnect, pulled 21 September 2026. Open the snapshot (every post's caption, duration, plays, likes, comments and saves; author details and media links removed).

Three things stand out. Screen recordings own their queries: 9 of 9 Excel results and 10 of 10 space-fact results are faceless by caption, and the Excel videos run 16 to 60 seconds with a median of 26. The most-saved format in the whole pull is the plainest: a single-image Excel cheat sheet with 2.5M plays and 56,599 saves, and a five-slide "16 places to visit in NYC" with 3.5M plays and 201,054 saves.

Slideshows beat video on saves in the reference niches. NYC photo posts were saved at 52.6 per 1,000 plays against 38.1 for video; Amazon finds at 17.6 against 6.8. Where the query is entertainment rather than reference, the opposite holds: soap-cutting photo posts had a median of 70,529 plays and were saved 1.7 times per 1,000, while the videos had a median of 2.6M plays. Two of those ten soap videos are compilations, one of them an hour long and one crediting a YouTube channel in the caption. Both rank. Neither is original content in TikTok's sense, which matters below.

Who is searching

TikTok's topic pages include an audience panel, as shares of the searchers it could classify. We pulled it for three of the typed phrases.

TopicFemale / male / unknownLargest age bandWhere
nyc things to do nyc69% / 14% / 17%18 to 24 (44%), then 25 to 34 (23%)United States 100%

Space Facts31% / 18% / 51%"others" (36%), then 25 to 34 (24%)Philippines 37%, US 21%, Australia 8%

Data: TikTok Creator Search Insights audience panel via TokConnect, 7 days, pulled 21 September 2026. Open the snapshot. "Unknown" and "others" are TikTok's own buckets and are left as reported.

Two of the three are young, female and American, which fits a slideshow-first strategy and US affiliate links. Space facts is the outlier: half the searchers are unclassified, the Philippines is the top country, and the US is a fifth of the demand. If your monetisation depends on a US audience, check this panel before you pick a fact niche, because the fact niches travel and the money does not always follow.

Monetisation reality

There are three ways a faceless account earns, and the format you choose decides which are open to you.

Creator Rewards Program. TikTok's own payout scheme. Per TikTok's Creator Academy page and the guides that quote it (Creators Agency, Toptal), you need a personal account, to be 18 or over, at least 10,000 followers, at least 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, and to live in one of a short list of countries that includes the US, UK, France, Germany, Japan, South Korea and Brazil. Only videos over one minute qualify, only after 1,000 qualified For You views, and only if they are original. TikTok's definition of unoriginal is the faceless trap: copied or lightly modified reposts, watermarked material, compilations without a new idea, looping videos, "single or multiple photos", and "only text overlays". Duets, Stitches and Photo Mode posts are excluded outright. So a slideshow account, a text-on-b-roll account and a compilation account are all outside the program by design. A one-minute screen recording with your own voice is inside it.

Affiliate. TikTok Shop's US affiliate program lets a personal account with 1,000 followers and an adult owner self-apply (requirements); Amazon Associates has no follower floor at all. This is where slideshows and product close-ups earn. Rows 5, 16, 19 and 24 above are affiliate niches before they are anything else.

App promotion. "best habit tracker app", "best trading app" and "How To Use AI TikTok" were all on TikTok's gap list this week. Every one of those is a screen recording, and every one has an app behind it that pays for installs or a founder who will pay for a video. 25 app ideas people are searching for and side hustle ideas with numbers cover the demand side of both.

Run this for your own niche in one prompt

The whole ranking above is search topics, video search and photo search, sorted. With TokConnect connected to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor, this prompt does it for any list of niches.

Paste this into your agent

I run faceless TikTok accounts. For each of these niches [list 8 to 10 phrases people would type], search TikTok topics (5 each). Drop any topic whose popularity is 85 or more and whose 7-day series climbs from under 20,000 to over 1,000,000; label those "cluster". For every remaining topic give 7-day searches, video count and searches per video in one table, ranked by searches per video. For the top three, search TikTok videos and photo posts (10 each) and tell me, from the captions and durations, how many of the results are screen recordings, hands-only, slideshows or voiceover, and the saves per 1,000 plays for video versus photo. Finish with one faceless format and one on-screen headline per niche.

Mistakes

Stolen clips. Two of the ten soap-cutting results are compilations of other people's footage, and one names its source. They rank today, and they are exactly what the Creator Rewards Program excludes and what TikTok's unoriginal-content checks are built to catch. Cut your own soap.

AI slop signals. A generated voice over stock footage with a caption that is only hashtags is the account TikTok's "only text overlays" rule describes. In our pull, the top space-facts post says in its caption that it used no AI and simulated the footage itself, and it has 96,436 saves. Effort is visible, and viewers save it.

Niches with zero search demand. A zero video count is only interesting when the searches are real. Two of the topics returned for our searches had tens of millions of searches, zero videos and a flat line ("Phone wallpaper tricks step by step", 73,361,382). Nobody types that. Set a floor of about 50,000 weekly searches on a phrase a person would say, and skip anything whose only evidence is a cluster.

Picking from a list. Including this one. The numbers above are one week old the moment they publish; "best trading app" went from zero videos to 1,526 in two days. Pull your own before you post, and see TikTok niches ranked by demand for the category-level view.

Frequently asked questions

What are the best faceless TikTok niches?

On TikTok's own numbers for 21 September 2026, the typed phrases with the most searches per video were true crime storytelling (275,162 searches, no videos matched), small Python coding tutorials (259,577 against 104 videos), city guides for a specific person ("things to do in nyc with gf", 188,181 against 132), monthly budget spreadsheets and Amazon tech finds. Investing, dog breeds, Minecraft builds, Japan itineraries and crockpot recipes all returned TikTok clusters with zero videos matched. The niche ranking has the category-level view.

Can faceless TikTok accounts make money?

Yes, through three routes: the Creator Rewards Program (original videos over one minute, on an account with 10,000 followers and 100,000 views in 30 days), affiliate links (TikTok Shop's US program asks for 1,000 followers; Amazon Associates has no floor), and app or brand promotion. The format decides which route is open. Screen recordings with your own voice qualify for rewards; slideshows and text-only videos earn through affiliate and promotion instead.

Do faceless accounts get monetised?

The Creator Rewards Program does not require a face. It requires originality: TikTok excludes copied or lightly modified reposts, watermarked clips, compilations without a new idea, looping videos, photo-only posts and videos that are only text overlays, plus Duets, Stitches and Photo Mode posts. A faceless account that records its own screen, hands or footage and speaks over it is eligible on the same terms as any other account.

What is the easiest faceless TikTok content?

Screen recordings. In our pull, all nine top results for "excel tips" and all ten for "space facts" were faceless by caption, and the Excel videos ran 16 to 60 seconds. A single-image Excel cheat sheet had 2.5M plays and 56,599 saves. You need a screen, a phrase people search and a clear answer in the first frame.

Do slideshows count as faceless content?

Yes, and they rank. NYC photo posts were saved at 52.6 per 1,000 plays against 38.1 for video, and the top wallpaper slideshow had 7.6M plays. The catch is money: TikTok's Creator Rewards Program excludes Photo Mode posts and "single or multiple photos", so slideshow accounts earn through affiliate links, digital products and app promotion. See 40 slideshow ideas for the formats.

How do I find a faceless niche with low competition?

Search your candidate phrases in Creator Search Insights (inside the TikTok app, or at tiktok.com/csi on desktop) and compare 7-day searches with the videos count. Divide searches by videos; anything over 200 with 50,000+ weekly searches on a phrase a person would type is worth a test. Ignore TikTok's generated clusters (two nouns joined by "and", millions of searches, often zero videos), and re-check before posting because gaps fill within days. Find a niche walks through the method.
