The best TikTok slideshow ideas are the ones people save, not the ones people like. A save is someone deciding your post is worth coming back to, and the photo posts that collect them all do the same thing: they put something useful or something funny on a small stack of images and let you swipe at your own pace.
So instead of making 40 ideas up, we pulled TikTok's photo search results for 15 niches, 186 posts in all, and turned the ones that worked into formats you can copy. Every idea below has a real post behind it with its real numbers, grouped by what you want back: saves, comments, sales, or just somewhere to put your camera roll.
How these were picked
All of these are ordinary photo mode posts, the swipeable format you get by tapping + and switching from Camera to Photo. On 20 September 2026 we asked TikTok for the photo results behind 15 queries, one per niche, and kept the caption, slide count, plays, likes, comments and saves for each post. The tables below quote the top posts by saves in each niche and describe the reusable shape of the post, not the specific topic.
Two numbers worth knowing before you start. The median ranking slideshow has six slides, and the highest save rates in the whole pull came from the plainest formats: a workout written out in full, a numbered dinner list, one book per slide. Polish is not what gets saved.
Niche decides a lot of it. Study tips was the most saved category in our pull at 56.7 saves per 1,000 plays, followed by Tokyo travel at 47.3 and home workouts at 46.2. Funny memes came in at 11.8 and small-business packing at 11.1, and both still pulled huge view counts. Pick the goal before the idea: a meme slideshow that gets 37M plays and few saves is not a failed post, it is a different job.
Ideas that get saved
These are reference posts. Someone needs the information later, so they hit save instead of screenshotting. The pattern under all sixteen is the same: a number in the first slide, one item per slide after it, and nothing the reader has to interpret.

Ideas that get comments
Slideshows get fewer comments per play than videos, so when you want a thread you have to ask for one. The posts that managed it gave people something to finish, argue with or tag someone in.
Two of these are worth studying closely. The meme slideshows at the top of this table cleared 36M and 39M plays on five slides each, which is more reach than anything in the saves table, and they did it with captions of four or five words. The relationship posts underneath them are the opposite: tiny reach, comment counts that would embarrass most videos, because every viewer tags one person.

Ideas that sell something
Small-business slideshows are the cheapest product content on the platform: photograph what you already do, put one line on each slide. The numbers here are smaller on purpose, because this is what a real small account looks like.

Photo dump ideas that work on TikTok
Photo dumps started on Instagram and the instinct people bring over is wrong for TikTok. On Instagram a dump is for people who already follow you. On TikTok it lands in front of strangers in search, so it needs one line of framing and a reason to swipe. You also get up to 35 images to play with, which is more room than most people use.
TikTok's autocomplete shows what people are looking for here: photo dump ideas, photo dump slideshow, photo dump aesthetic, photo dump caption, photo dump live photos. The dumps that ranked answered one of those rather than being a dump.

Give the stack a subject before you post it. A season, a trip, a colour, a rule you followed. "Dump" is the format; the subject is what makes it findable, and it is the difference between 12K saves and 200K.
Turning an idea into a post that ranks
Pick the idea, then pick the phrase. TikTok's search tool reports 1.9M weekly searches for the topic "slideshow ideas", and some of the sub-topics have almost nothing made for them: "shopping themed slideshow ideas" shows 4.1M weekly searches with zero videos matched to it. Those are the easiest posts on this page to rank with.

Then build it the way the winners do: the phrase on slide one, the phrase in the caption as a sentence, six to eleven slides, and one thing per slide. One more thing the data kept showing. Forty-seven of the 186 posts had captions made of nothing but hashtags. They still ranked, and they were saved at a median of 14.1 saves per 1,000 plays against 18.9 for the posts that wrote an actual sentence. Write the sentence.
