The best TikTok niches are the ones with search demand you can serve every week and competition you can beat. This page ranks sixteen of them on live TikTok data pulled on 19 September 2026: search demand, how many topics TikTok has no videos for, and how crowded a typical topic already is.

Short answer: AI and tech tools, relationships and mindset, and beauty and skincare hold the most unanswered demand. Food, travel, cars and DIY are the easiest to break into, because TikTok returned topics with millions of searches and no videos matched at all.

How these niches were ranked

TikTok files every search topic under a category tree (Gourmet › Food Tutorials, Science and Technology › Software, and so on). Three snapshots went into the ranking, all from 19 September 2026:

  • 80 content-gap topics, sorted by that category tree. A content-gap topic is one people search for with no videos matched to it, which is TikTok's own flag for an opening. More on how the flag works.
  • 140 trending topics across TikTok's six category chips, to check a niche shows up in TikTok's own trending feed and not only in our searches.
  • Seventeen searches of our own, one per candidate niche, ten topics each. These give the competition figure: the median videos TikTok has matched to a topic in that niche, and how many of the ten came back empty.

The gap list is one week of 80 topics, so two gaps is not the same as no opportunity. Read that column as where TikTok itself flags a shortage, and the competition column as the thing you act on.

Data: TikTok Creator Search Insights via TokConnect, pulled 19 September 2026. "Gaps flagged" is that niche's share of TikTok's 80 content-gap topics that week; competition is the median video count across the ten topics returned for our search. Snapshots: candidate niches, core ten, content gaps.

The ten strongest niches right now

Ordered by gaps flagged, with ties broken by empty topics and competition.

1. AI and tech tools

Fifteen of the 80 flagged gaps sat in Science and Technology, more than any other category, and they are narrow: "best habit tracker app" (263,720 searches, no videos), "how to see first song on spotify" (101,849). Broad phrasing is crowded, though. All ten topics we got back for ai tools already had videos, a median of 541. Win on the narrow question, not the category.

2. Relationships and mindset

Eleven gaps, and almost all of them are things you can film without appearing: "find your happiness" (274,372 searches, no videos), "stay positive quotes" (280,371), "choosing to stay single" (2,456,662). The advice side is busy at a median of 617 videos, so the mindset and quote end is where the room is.

3. Beauty and skincare

Ten gaps, the most of any consumer niche, and the heaviest competition we measured: a median of 701 videos per topic, one empty topic in ten. The gaps are product and technique level, like "Best Bronzer" (276,227 searches) and "types of bangs" (186,918). This niche rewards a better answer, not an empty slot.

4. Gaming

Six gaps in Games and the lowest competition of any high-demand niche here, a median of 280 videos. "ROG gaming PCs and setups" pulled 4,763,576 searches against 128 videos. Capture footage plus a voiceover is the native format, so the faceless route is free.

5. Home and organisation

Five gaps, four of ten topics empty, and a standout number: "useful home organizers worth trying" at 8,324,031 searches with 217 videos. Home content converts to affiliate income more directly than most niches, because every video is a product in use.

6. Food and recipes

Four gaps, and the emptiest results in the set: six of ten topics for easy dinner recipes had no videos matched, including "easy dinner recipes and meal prep" at 4,503,649 searches. It is also the easiest niche to publish in weekly, because you were going to cook anyway.

7. Travel

Four gaps and a median of 154 videos, the second-lowest competition here. The money end is wide open: "travel destination costs and budgets" showed 4,674,961 searches with nothing matched. Weekly volume is the catch, since most people do not travel every week.

8. DIY and home projects

Three gaps, six of ten topics empty, median 0 videos. "DIY home projects and inventions" carried 4,436,330 searches against 104 videos. The format is forgiving: hands, a table and a finished object.

9. Money and side hustles

Two flagged gaps, but eight of the twenty topics we pulled across saving and side hustles came back empty, including "money saving methods and tools" at 4,708,586 searches. Shortest path to income too, since the audience is already thinking about money.

10. Study and productivity

One flagged gap, and the biggest single topic in the whole pull: "Simple study routines that work" at 117,487,027 searches in seven days with nothing matched to it. Competition elsewhere is light at a median of 212 videos. The audience is seasonal around exams, which is a feature if you plan around term dates.

Faceless TikTok niches

Eleven of the sixteen work without your face on screen. The strongest are AI and tech tools, gaming, money, DIY, home and study, because the subject is a screen, a pair of hands or an object rather than a person.

The five that fight you are beauty, fashion, fitness, parenting and the advice half of relationships. There the viewer needs to see a person to get the answer: a face for skincare, a body for form, a family for routines.

Faceless does not mean generic, though. Every empty topic we found is specific, like "game settings and presets setup". Stock footage over a broad category matches nothing.

How to choose between them

Three tests, in order.

Can you serve the demand weekly?

A niche only works if you can post into it every week for a year. Travel has light competition and real demand, and the highest dropout rate, because the material ends when the trip does. Pick the one where you would still have something to say in month nine.

Does the niche have live gaps?

Check video counts before you commit. Three or four topics with high searches and near-zero videos means you can rank in weeks. A wall of 600-video topics means beating the incumbents on quality, which is slower. The content gaps page has this week's list across all categories.

Will the audience spend?

Search volume is not income. Money, home, tech and beauty have obvious routes (affiliate links, product reviews, digital products, brand deals) because the viewer arrives with a purchase in mind. Relationships and study have huge reach and thinner monetisation, so treat them as audience building.

For each of these niches [list 5 you are considering], search TikTok topics and return the ten results with 7-day searches, video count and category. Then give me a table comparing the niches on: highest-volume topic, median video count, how many of the ten have under 50 videos, and which TikTok category the topics fall under. Recommend one and say why.

Then turn the niche into a posting list. Fifty video ideas with real search numbers covers ten of these niches, and the keyword research guide shows how to find the phrasing your audience types.

Frequently asked questions

How to pick your niche on TikTok?

Run three tests. Can you post into it every week for a year? Does a search of the niche show topics with high searches and few videos? And does the audience arrive with a purchase in mind? A niche that passes all three beats a bigger one that fails the first. Search your shortlist in Creator Search Insights and compare the video counts before you commit.

What are the top 10 niches?

By the content gaps TikTok flagged on 19 September 2026: AI and tech tools, relationships and mindset, beauty and skincare, gaming, home and organisation, food and recipes, travel, DIY and home projects, money and side hustles, and study and productivity. The table above shows each one's demand, gap count and competition so you can re-order them for your own situation.

What are the best faceless TikTok niches?

AI and tech tools, gaming, money and side hustles, DIY, home and organisation, and study. In each, the subject of the video is a screen, a pair of hands or an object rather than a person. Relationships works faceless too: the flagged gaps there were quote and mindset topics like "stay positive quotes" (280,371 searches, no videos matched).

Do I need to stick to one niche on TikTok?

Search demand does not care about your account, only about whether the video answers the phrase. But TikTok's Suggested and Content gap tabs are personalised to what it thinks your account is about, so a consistent account gets better suggestions. Pick one niche, then widen once the suggestions are useful.
