The strongest rising book search on TikTok in the 7 days to 26 October 2026 was “BookReviews”: up 286% to 305,991 searches, with 1,199 videos matched.

Key takeaways
  • Every row is a book or reading topic TikTok's search index returned for 12 BookTok searches, ranked by the 7-day search figure.
  • Genres and tropes show up as their own topics; the fastest risers are where a recommendation video or slideshow gets found first.
  • Topics TikTok names itself pool many related searches, so they sit in their own table.

TokConnect tracks BookTok trends from TikTok's search index: every week it runs 12 reading searches, from "booktok" and "romance books" to "romantasy" and "books to read", and lists every book topic with its 7-day search count, videos matched and fastest risers. For an author, a publisher or a creator, the useful column is videos matched. A genre or trope that thousands search for and few videos serve is where a recommendation video gets found.

For named books and authors, see BookTok books.

TikTok names these topics itself and folds many related searches into each one, so the figure is the size of the topic, not the number of people typing that exact phrase. Compare them with each other, not with the typed searches above.

How we measured

Every row is a typed search TikTok's search index returned for 12 book searches on 26 October 2026, ranked by TikTok's 7-day search figure, with the videos TikTok matched to it. Fastest risers compare the first and last day of that week. 67% of the 55 topics TikTok returned were topic labels it names itself, which pool many searches, so they sit in their own table instead of the ranking (the top 15 are shown there).

Frequently asked questions

What is trending on BookTok right now?

The first table lists the book and reading topics TikTok's search index returns for 12 searches such as "booktok", "romance books" and "books to read", ranked by 7-day searches. The fastest risers table shows what grew most over the seven days in the snapshot.

How can an author or publisher use this?

Match the wording. TikTok matches searches against captions, on-screen text and speech, so a video titled with the topic wording people search for ranks for it. Topics with few matched videos are the openings. The slideshow ideas guide covers the book-recommendation formats that rank.

Where does the BookTok data come from?

TikTok's Creator Search Insights, pulled through TokConnect and saved as a snapshot linked under each table. Search counts are TikTok's own figure for the last seven days, global.
