Most lists of TikTok video ideas are somebody's brainstorm. This one is a list of things people actually typed into TikTok's search bar in the last seven days, with the search count next to each idea and the number of videos already answering it. Fifty ideas across ten niches, all pulled on 19 September 2026.
The ideas with a 0 in the Videos column are the ones to make first. TikTok has search demand for those phrases and almost nothing filed against them, so a decent video becomes the result people find.
If you only read one line: pick a topic below from a niche you can actually film, say the topic's wording out loud in the first three seconds, and put it in your caption too.
How this list was made
We searched ten niches inside TikTok's Creator Search Insights data on 19 September 2026, pulled the top ten topics TikTok returned for each, and kept five. The five were chosen for high searches, low video counts, and whether a normal creator could film the answer that week.
Two numbers do the work:
- 7-day searches is TikTok's own "Search popularity" figure: how many searches that topic got worldwide in the last week. It is weekly, not monthly, so it is not comparable to a Google volume. More on that in the search volume guide.
- Videos is how many videos TikTok has matched to that topic. A 0 is the signal behind TikTok's "content gap" badge.

Zero videos does not mean nobody has ever posted about cats or dinner. It means TikTok has not matched a video to that phrasing. The opportunity is to answer the search directly enough that TikTok files you under it.
How to use an idea from this list
An idea is worth nothing until TikTok can tell your video answers the search. Four steps, about ten minutes of work.
- Say the phrase in the first three seconds. Out loud. TikTok transcribes audio, and the opening line is what gets read as the subject of the video.
- Put the same phrase on screen as your first text overlay, in the reader's words, not yours. "Under eye skincare routine" beats "my little morning ritual".
- Repeat it in the caption, in a sentence rather than a hashtag pile. The TikTok SEO guide covers what else search reads.
- Answer the question in the video. If the search is "travel destinations by budget", show three destinations and three budgets. Half an answer ranks like no answer.

Data: TikTok Creator Search Insights via TokConnect, pulled 19 September 2026. Ten searches, ten topics each. Open the snapshot.
What the numbers say about where to start
Across the ten niches, the topics split into two shapes. Food, home and travel came back with six, four and three zero-video topics out of ten. Beauty, pets and fashion came back with one or two, and typical video counts of 701, 604 and 472.
That difference matters more than the search counts. Most topics here clear two million weekly searches, so demand is not the constraint. Competition is. A food or travel creator can find an unanswered phrase in a single search; a beauty creator has to win on a better answer instead.
The other thing to notice is how specific the winning phrases are. Nobody searches "recipe". They search "easy dinner recipes for teens". Specific is where the gaps live, and it is also easier to film, because you know exactly what the video has to contain.
How to generate your own list of TikTok content ideas
This list ages. Search demand moves weekly, and the zeros fill in as creators notice them. Running the same method on your own niche takes a couple of minutes if your AI assistant can reach TikTok's search data.
Search TikTok topics for "[my niche]" and return every topic with its 7-day searches, popularity score and video count. Sort by video count ascending, then by searches descending. Take the top 8 and for each one write: the exact phrase to say in the first three seconds, a caption, and a one-line description of what the video shows. Flag any topic with fewer than 50 videos as a priority.
Two habits make it work. Run it on the phrasing your audience uses, not your industry's jargon. And run it weekly, because the zeros are the whole prize and they do not stay zero.
If you would rather start from a ready-made list, the content gaps page is this week's topics with high search and no videos, refreshed from the same data. To choose which niche to build the account around in the first place, see TikTok niches ranked by search demand, and for turning a list of ideas into a posting plan, the content strategy guide.
Frequently asked questions
What types of content are best for TikTok?
The content that gets found months later is the content that answers a search. In our 19 September pull, topics phrased as a question or a specific task ("travel destinations by budget", "under eye skincare routines") carried millions of weekly searches, while broad category words carried almost none. Make the specific thing, say the phrase early, and the video keeps earning views after the feed moves on.
What are good topics for TikTok?
Good topics have three things: enough weekly search demand, few videos already matched to them, and something you can genuinely film. "Quick home workout for endurance" had 13.3 million searches in seven days and zero videos matched on the day we checked. That combination is the target, and you can find your own with Creator Search Insights.
How do I find TikTok video ideas that will get views?
Search your niche in TikTok's Creator Search Insights instead of scrolling the For You page. Sort the topics by video count from low to high, and pick one with high searches and few videos. This page is that method run across ten niches; the content gaps page has this week's version.
How often should I refresh my list of ideas?
Weekly. TikTok's search popularity figure covers the last seven days, so the list you build today is a snapshot of this week. The unanswered topics fill in fastest, which is exactly why checking them again matters.
