Google Search Console can now report on a TikTok account. Add it as a platform property and you get a Performance report of the Google queries, clicks and impressions that led people from Google Search and Discover to your TikTok posts, with no website required. Google announced platform properties on 7 July 2026 and made them available to everyone on 29 July.

What Google Search Console cannot tell you about TikTok is anything about searches made inside TikTok. Those happen in a different search engine with its own demand, results and ranking. This page covers what a platform property measures, how to add one, and how to report both engines so a client sees the whole picture.

What platform properties are

A platform property is a Search Console property type that verifies a social or video account instead of a domain. Google's help page lists Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube as the only supported platforms, so Facebook and LinkedIn accounts cannot be added. Each account gets its own property, and the reports cover how that account's posts perform on Google Search, Discover and Google News.

The property gives you three reports, as Search Engine Journal and Search Engine Roundtable reported at launch and Google's documentation confirms.

ReportWhat it contains
PerformanceTotal clicks, impressions, average CTR and average position for your posts on Google, filterable by Search, Discover or News, by query, by post and by country. Default window is 28 days; data can be exported.
InsightsA traffic overview for the last 28 days, your top-performing posts, the queries and query groups (top, trending up, trending down) bringing people in, and the countries they come from.
AchievementsMilestones such as crossing a click threshold over a 28-day period.

Google is explicit about the boundary. The help page says platform properties "only show how your content performs on Google Search. They don't track when people see your content on the platform itself." Keep that sentence; it is the whole point of this guide.

It grew out of the social channels report Google added in December 2025 inside website properties. Platform properties drop the website requirement, so a social team can use them without whoever owns the domain.

How to add TikTok to Google Search Console

These steps are from Google's platform properties help page and the add-a-property page.

  1. Open Search Console and click the property selector in the sidebar, or go to the welcome screen.
  2. Click Add property.
  3. Under the platform options, click Add next to TikTok.
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to verify ownership. Google describes verification as an "automated connection via an existing website property, or direct platform login", so expect to sign in to the TikTok account or to have it linked from a site you already verified.
  5. When you see the confirmation message, click Go to property.
  6. Repeat for every account. A brand with a TikTok, an Instagram and a YouTube channel needs three properties.

Google does not publish which permissions the TikTok login grants or what the consent screen looks like, so we can't describe that part. What the docs do say: data takes a few days to appear, a new property only shows data from the day collection started, and Google re-checks ownership periodically. If the login lapses, the property pauses until you re-verify, then the same reports come back with no new wait.

One shortcut from Google's analysis guide: if you have already claimed a Search profile, all the accounts verified on it are added as platform properties automatically.

What the reports tell you, post by post

Open the Performance report, switch the dimension to Pages (each TikTok post is a URL) and you get the same table you know from a website property: clicks, impressions, CTR and position per post. Switch to Queries and you see what people typed into Google before landing on a post. Filter by a single post to see which Google queries it ranks for.

That answers a question social teams never had an answer to: which of our TikToks does Google surface, and for what. A cleaning-hack video getting clicks from the Google query "how to clean white shoes" is doing a job no TikTok analytics screen can see, because TikTok only counts the views it served itself.

What a query row means

Every query in a platform property was typed into Google. Impressions for "how to clean white shoes" count the times a Google results page containing your post was shown for that Google search, and say nothing about how many people searched the phrase on TikTok.

What Search Console cannot tell you: searches inside TikTok

TikTok is a search engine with its own search bar, its own ranked results and its own demand data, and none of it touches Google, so none of it reaches Search Console. A brand can rank on Google for a topic and be invisible in TikTok search for the same topic, or the reverse, and a platform property will never show you either case.

TikTok publishes its own search demand in Creator Search Insights, inside the app and on desktop at tiktok.com/csi with a TikTok login. Each topic shows a Search popularity figure: searches in the last 7 days, global unless you pick a country. The search volume guide covers the definition in detail. Here is the TikTok side of the white-shoes example, pulled on 20 September 2026.

Data: TikTok Creator Search Insights via TokConnect, pulled 20 September 2026. Open the snapshot. Google-side fields are from Google's documentation; no Google numbers are shown because we are not publishing a client's property.

The same search returned nine sibling topics, seven with zero matched videos despite millions of weekly searches: "cleaning white athletic shoes" at 3.92M, "Asics shoes cleaning and washing" at 4.49M, "cleaning white Vans shoes" at 2.66M. Those are content gaps, exactly the demand a Google-only report hides. The 30-day chart for the main topic is empty before 18 September, so TikTok only started tracking this cluster recently; read the 7-day series.

Now the ranking side: what a TikTok user actually gets for the phrase.

Data: TikTok search results via TokConnect, pulled 20 September 2026, TikTok's default order. Open the snapshot.

All eight results are individual creators. No shoe brand, retailer or cleaning-product account ranks for the phrase on TikTok, and the top result is three and a half years old. A footwear brand that owns the Google results for "how to clean white shoes" has three million weekly TikTok searches it is not appearing for, and its platform property would report that everything is fine. The gap runs the other way too: a creator ranking first on TikTok can get zero Google impressions for the same phrase. Two engines, two reports.

A two-engine report for clients

This is the template for SEOs who now get asked "what is our TikTok doing in search". Report each engine with its own metrics and never blend them; a 7-day TikTok topic count and a 28-day Google click count are not the same unit.

Google side, from the Search Console platform property

  • Queries per post: the Google queries each TikTok post appears for, with impressions, clicks, CTR and position, 28-day window.
  • Top posts on Google: the Pages view sorted by clicks, so the client sees which videos Google is surfacing.
  • Surface split: clicks from Search versus Discover versus News, since Discover traffic behaves differently.
  • Country split: where the Google clicks come from.
  • Movement: query groups trending up or down in the Insights report, compared with the previous 28 days.

TikTok side, from Creator Search Insights data

  • Search volume per topic: searches in the last 7 days, global unless a country is selected, for each topic the client cares about.
  • Trend curve: the daily 7-day series and the 0 to 100 popularity score, so a rising topic is visible before it peaks.
  • Videos matched (videoCount): how many videos TikTok has filed under the topic; zero or near zero is a content gap worth a brief.
  • Ranking check: whether any of the client's videos appear in TikTok's search results for the phrase, and who does if they don't. Sibling topics with high searches and no videos go in as recommendations.

Search Console exports the Google side as CSV. The TikTok side has no export, no history and no API on the app or at tiktok.com/csi, so the numbers are either copied by hand each week or pulled through the TikTok data tools TokConnect gives an agent, where one prompt fills the whole TikTok column. Agencies running this for several clients will want the agency setup.

Search TikTok topics for "how to clean white shoes". For each topic give the 7-day search volume, the 7-day trend, the popularity score and the video count, and flag topics with under 50 videos as content gaps. Then run a TikTok video search for the same phrase and list the top 10 results with account, post date and plays. Format it as a two-column client table: TikTok demand on the left, what ranks on the right.

Why this matters for TikTok SEO

Platform properties are good news for social teams: for the first time Google says which posts it surfaces and for which queries. The risk is that the report gets read as "our TikTok search performance". It is your TikTok's Google performance, and a client who only sees it will believe the TikTok search job is done when it hasn't started.

The demand for TikTok's own numbers is not new. In a June 2024 r/bigseo thread an SEO asked how to give their boss TikTok search volume in a trends report, and the replies were that no keyword tool reports it. That is still true of every Google-side tool, Search Console included. The number exists; TikTok shows it in Creator Search Insights.

So treat the two engines as two jobs. The TikTok SEO guide covers ranking inside TikTok: picking a topic with real search volume, putting its wording in the caption, on-screen text and speech, and checking the trend before you post. The TikTok search statistics page has the sourced figures for the slide that explains why the Google report is half the story. And when the two reports disagree, that is the finding: a topic you own on one engine and are missing on the other is the next brief.

Frequently asked questions

Does Google Search Console show TikTok search volume?

No. A platform property reports Google Search and Discover activity for your TikTok posts: clicks, impressions, CTR, position and the Google queries involved. Searches made inside the TikTok app are not in Search Console at all. TikTok publishes those in Creator Search Insights as a 7-day search count per topic.

Do I need a website to add TikTok to Search Console?

No. Platform properties are the first Search Console property type that verifies a social account rather than a domain. Google's help page says verification is an automated connection through an existing website property or a direct platform login, so you can add a TikTok account with no site at all.

Why does my TikTok platform property show no data?

Google says it takes a few days for data to appear after verification, and a new property only shows data from the day collection started. If the account has no posts that Google surfaces in Search or Discover, the reports stay empty. Google also re-checks ownership periodically and pauses access if the platform login lapses, so re-verify if the property suddenly stops updating.

Can you do SEO on TikTok?

Yes, and it is a separate job from Google SEO. TikTok ranks videos in its own search results based on the caption, on-screen text, speech and engagement, and it has its own demand data. The TikTok SEO guide covers keyword research with real TikTok search volumes and the on-video checklist.

Does TikTok have more searches than Google?

Not overall, but for some topics TikTok's weekly search count is in the millions while the Google keyword is a fraction of that, and the reverse is also common. TikTok reports 7-day topic totals and Google tools report monthly keyword averages, so compare them as separate demand curves rather than one number. See TikTok search statistics for the sourced figures.

Which platforms can be added as a Search Console platform property?

Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube. Google's help page lists those four as the only supported platforms, so Facebook, LinkedIn and Threads accounts cannot be added yet. Each account needs its own property.
