The Christmas TikTok ideas with real search demand right now are Christmas nails, tree styling, outfits and matching pajamas, recipes and cookies, advent calendars and Elf on the Shelf. On 30 September 2026, "christmas nail" was the biggest Christmas search people typed, at 313,168 searches in 7 days. TikTok had no videos at all for 19 of the 20 Christmas recipe topics we checked.

We ran 12 Christmas searches through TikTok's own search data, then checked which Christmas videos performed last season and when they were posted. The short version for creators and brands: the topics are already there, most of them have few or no videos, and last year's biggest Christmas videos went up in November, not December.

One thing to know first. Almost every Christmas row TikTok shows in September is a label TikTok wrote itself, not a phrase someone typed. We kept the two apart, so you can see where real searchers are and where TikTok is grouping interest.

Christmas TikTok searches people are typing right now

Only 9 of the 220 Christmas topics we pulled were phrases people type. Here they are, ranked by searches in the last 7 days. "This week" is the first day of TikTok's 7-day chart against the last day. "Videos" is how many videos TikTok matches to that exact search.

Data: TikTok Creator Search Insights via TokConnect, pulled 30 September 2026 for 12 searches, 20 topics each: "christmas", "christmas decor", "christmas tree", "christmas outfit", "christmas pajamas", "christmas recipes", "christmas cookies", "christmas nails", "advent calendar", "elf on the shelf", "christmas ideas" and "christmas songs". Searches are TikTok's 7-day global figure. Snapshot with all 220 topics.

Nails lead, and both nail searches rose over the week. Songs and the "ChristmasLovers" crowd are the other risers. A year-tagged search like "christmas 2017" suggests people also go looking for old Christmas videos, which fits the nostalgic Christmas trend TikTok itself called out in 2024.

What Christmas videos are people searching for in [your niche] on TikTok right now?

Why most Christmas rows are TikTok's own labels

The other 211 topics are labels TikTok generates to group many searches, like "Christmas tree fluffing and decoration" or "Elf on the Shelf dog ideas". Every one of them reads between 1,848,484 and 4,815,554 searches. Each started the week at between 100 and 10,002, and on the last day every one jumped 2.9 to 3.2 times. Real searches don't move in lockstep, so read a label as "TikTok sees Christmas interest here", not as a headcount.

The labels are still the best map of what Christmas content TikTok expects people to want. The useful signal is the video count: 107 of the 211 labels had no videos matched at all. The search volume guide explains the numbers, and the content gap guide explains why an empty topic is an opening.

Brands have two easy angles. Food and gift boxes are the emptiest areas, and TikTok named products in its labels (advent calendars from Skims and Dior, "Dyson Christmas gift ideas"). If you sell anything giftable, a "cookie and treat gift box" or "advent calendar price per door" video answers a topic nobody has filled.

Which Christmas recipe and cookie searches on TikTok have lots of searches but no videos yet?

What worked last Christmas, and when it went up

We searched TikTok videos for "christmas" (sorted by most liked) and "christmas tiktok ideas". Of the 21 videos returned, 11 were posted last season, between October and December 2025: 6 in November and 5 in December. The biggest ones went up early:

  • 9 November 2025: a cosy Christmas sleepover and date-night idea, 17 seconds, 16.8 million plays and 265,447 saves.
  • 7 November 2025: a Christmas lights video, 14 seconds, 5.4 million plays.
  • 14 November 2025: a Christmas gift idea from an Amazon storefront, 2.9 million plays and 55,137 saves.
  • 22 November 2025: a DIY wall Christmas tree, 16 seconds, 7.6 million plays.
  • 24 November 2025: a DIY glowing Christmas wreath, 12 seconds, 2.2 million plays.
  • 17 December 2025: Chicago in the snow at Christmas, 14 seconds, 11.0 million plays.

The idea and DIY videos that took off went up in November. The two idea videos posted in December had 51,161 and 4,393 plays; December's hits were travel and "Merry Christmas" clips. The typical video across all 21 was 18 seconds. This is a small sample, but the pattern is clear enough to plan around: post the how-to and idea videos before people start decorating.

This year has started even earlier. Seven of the videos were posted since August 2026, and they already have up to 3,187,375 plays. A felt Christmas craft posted on 26 August has 1,175,610 plays, and a Christmas gift box packaging idea from 2 September has 633,989.

Can TikTok's own charts show last year's timing? No. The longest window its search tool offers is 180 days, which from today reaches back to April 2026, not December 2025. For both Christmas topics we checked, the readings only start on 2 August 2026.

Line chart of weekly average TikTok daily search popularity from the week of 2 August to 27 September 2026. Christmas nail rises from 106,540 to 250,407, with a bump to 242,904 in the week of 6 September. The christmas peaks at 422,660 in the week of 30 August, falls to 186,100 in the week of 20 September and ends at 248,523.

For last year's trends, TikTok's own recap is the best source. Its December 2024 roundup named a nostalgic 90s and "tacky" Christmas revival and bows on everything, from trees to gift wrap (TikTok Newsroom). Bows are still in TikTok's labels this September. For music, Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" was the top Christmas track of 2024 with more than 20 million video creations, just ahead of WHAM!'s "Last Christmas" at more than 18 million (TikTok Newsroom, via Record of the Day).

Gift guides and advent unboxings often come with free product or affiliate links. The FTC says to disclose a brand relationship in the video itself, not only in the caption (Disclosures 101), and TikTok's Branded Content Policy asks you to switch on the commercial content setting.

How we got these numbers

On 30 September 2026 we ran 12 Christmas searches through TikTok's Creator Search Insights data and took the top 20 topics for each: 240 rows, 220 unique. We split them into 9 typed searches (all under 1 million) and 211 TikTok labels (1,848,484 and up). We added two 180-day search charts, one hashtag search, autocomplete for "christmas" and "christmas tiktok", and two video searches. Every pull is linked under its table.

"Searches" is TikTok's search popularity: searches in the last 7 days, worldwide. Christmas demand builds from November, so September numbers show where interest is starting, not its peak; we will refresh this page weekly to 25 December. You can check any topic yourself in Creator Search Insights, in the TikTok app or on desktop at tiktok.com/csi with a TikTok login, one search at a time and with no export (TikTok Help Center). Or ask TokConnect "which Christmas cookie searches have no videos?" and get the searches, videos and numbers in one answer. For the seasonal page before this one, see trending Halloween costumes 2026.

What should I post on TikTok for Christmas?

Post where people search and few videos exist. Christmas recipes, cookies, Elf on the Shelf and advent calendar topics had no videos for most of the rows we checked. Nails, tree styling, bows and couple ideas have real demand too. The ideas table above gives a video to make for each.

When should I start posting Christmas content on TikTok?

Earlier than December. Save travel, Christmas Eve and recap clips for late December.

Smaller tags do better per video: #christmasrecipes (56,015), #christmasrecipe (53,191), #christmasedit (31,631) and #christmasaesthetic (26,510). Use one broad tag, one specific tag and the exact search phrase in your caption. See best TikTok hashtags.

What Christmas TikTok dances are trending?

Autocomplete shows what people type often, but not how often, so check the sound's recent use before you film.
