TikTok nails: the top nail designs people search this week

The TikTok nails people searched for most this week were french tips: "deep french tip nails" (325,767 searches in 7 days), "fall french tip nails" (318,595) and "short french tips nails" (294,288). Right behind them: chunky almond, red chrome, super short nails, fall toe nails and brown fall nails. Chrome and almond searches climbed fastest, and five of the biggest, up to 291,654 searches a week, had no videos at all.

This page is for nail techs, press-on sellers and anyone who wants to know which nail designs people actually search for. We ran 13 nail searches through TikTok's own search data on 30 September 2026, from broad words like "nails" to specific styles like "gel x nails", and pulled the hashtags, autocomplete and top videos to go with them.

The biggest lesson came from the broad words. Type "nails" or "nail art" and TikTok returns almost nothing but its own topic labels. Type a shape, a finish or a season and you get the phrases people really type.

TikTok nail trends people are searching this week

These are the top 20 typed nail searches from our pulls, ranked by searches in the last 7 days. "Change" compares the last day of the week with the first. "Videos" is how many videos TikTok matches to that exact search, so a low number means little competition.

Look at how close the numbers are. Every search in the top 20 sits between 269,080 and 325,767 a week, which tells you nail demand is spread across many small style phrases rather than one big keyword. The typical typed nail search in our set had 226,509 searches. The words that win combine a shape, a finish or a season: "deep french tip", "red chrome", "brown fall".

Why "nails" alone tells you almost nothing

TikTok returned 260 topics for our 13 searches. Only 74 were phrases people typed. The other 163 were topic labels TikTok writes itself to group many searches, like "nail art for large nails" or "press on nails and nail kits". They all read between 1.85 million and 4.82 million, and most jumped from under 10,000 on the first day to millions by the last. Read them as the size of a theme, not as keywords to copy. We left four more typed results out because they weren't about nail designs or were about children.

The split is stark. The four broad seeds ("nails", "nail art", "nail designs", "press on nails") gave 3 typed searches out of 80 topics. Five style seeds (fall, chrome, almond, french tip, gel x) gave 56 out of 100. If you research nail keywords, start from a shape, a finish or a season.

The labels still carry useful signals, especially the ones with no videos matched:

• "press on nail sizing guides": 4.7 million, no videos
• "chrome powder nail art guide": 4.7 million, no videos
• "nail art terms and meanings": 4.6 million, no videos
• "press on nails for selling": 4.6 million, 978 videos
• "cat eye toenail designs": 3.6 million, no videos

Which nail searches are rising this week?

Chrome and almond carried the week:

• doing chrome nails: from 6,196 on day one to 179,910.
• long chrome nails: from 29,308 to 277,483 (+847%).
• rose chrome nails: from 78,223 to 262,678 (+236%).
• french tip gel nails: from 47,414 to 275,982 (+482%).
• short nails for nurses: from 48,204 to 160,716 (+233%), a work-friendly angle few nail pages cover.
• almond: "chunky almond nail", "almond nails at home" and "square nails to almond nails" were all new this week, and "almond nail ideas" rose 142%.

Some general fall searches cooled: "fall sets nails" fell 46% and "fall theme nails" 39%, while "simple halloween nails" dropped 41%. Daily readings for single searches jump around a lot, so trust a search that stays high all week over one that spikes on the last day.

Nail searches with no videos yet

A search with real demand and no matched videos is the easiest place for a new video to show up. TikTok calls this a content gap. These are the typed nail searches in our pulls with zero or very few videos:

Two patterns stand out. First, toe nails: two of the biggest empty searches are pedicure searches, and the label "cat eye toenail designs" has no videos either. Second, spelling. "Soft almond" also shows up misspelled as "solf" and "sodt", and together the three spellings hold 318,058 searches with no videos. "Slim almond" misspellings add 123,104 more. Don't misspell your caption on purpose; use the correct phrase in your words and on-screen text, and your video can be the one that answers it.

The zero for "90 french tip nails" next to 425 videos for "90s french tip nails" shows how literal the matching is. Say and write the exact phrase you want to rank for.

Nail hashtags on TikTok: views and videos

Hashtag numbers are lifetime totals, so they show size, not this week's demand. The useful column is the last one: average views per video on the tag.

Tutorial tags pull two to three and a half times the average views per video of #nails. That fits the search data: people type "how" searches like "shaping gel x nails" and "cat eye nails tutorial". #nailtok, NailTok's own tag, sits on almost 2 million videos. Use one broad tag, one tutorial or style tag and one specific tag like #chromenails; the keyword in your caption does more work than a fourth hashtag. Autocomplete fills in the rest. When we typed "nails", TikTok suggested "nails design ideas 2026", "nails inspo", "nails trends 2026", "nails extension set" and "nails for girls". After "nail ideas" it offered "short nails", "y2k", "for men", "simple", "clean girl" and "for your gf" (suggestions snapshot). TikTok shows no counts for these, but each is typed often enough to be offered.

What the top videos for "brown fall nails" do

We searched "brown fall nails", one of the top 10, and TikTok returned nine videos. The first is a 21-second DIY cat eye set with 3.6 million plays. Third place goes to a 17-second "7 brown nails to try this autumn" video posted on 21 September with 26,601 plays. It ranks above a salon's fall set with 5.2 million plays, which came ninth. In search, matching the words beats raw views.

Across all nine: seven captions say "brown" and six use #fallnails. Lengths run from 14 to 60 seconds, with a middle value of 31. Six were posted in August or September 2026, but three from autumn 2025 still rank, so a good seasonal video keeps working the next year. The salon video has the most saves (127,358) and puts its town names in its hashtags, a simple move any local tech can copy.

How to post nails on TikTok so people find them

TikTok says it uses details like captions, sounds and hashtags to understand what a video is about (TikTok Help Center). For nails, that means naming the look in words, not just showing it.

1. Name shape, finish and season together. "Deep french tip almond nails for fall" matches more of the phrases above than "new set".
2. Say it, show it, write it. Say the phrase in the first seconds, put it in on-screen text, and write it in the caption.
3. Answer the "how" searches. "Shaping gel x nails", "filing acrylic nails" and "square nails to almond nails" are tutorial searches. Techs can film their process; the tutorial tags above reward it.
4. Don't skip toes. Fall pedicure searches have demand and no videos right now.
5. Put your city in the caption. "nyc gel x nails" had 58,417 searches and no videos. Local clients search by place.

How we got these numbers

On 30 September 2026 we ran 13 nail searches through TikTok's Creator Search Insights data and took the top 20 topics for each: 260 topics, 241 unique. We split them into 74 typed searches (all under 1 million) and 163 TikTok topic labels (1.85 million and up), and dropped four typed results that were off topic or about children. We added two hashtag searches, autocomplete for two phrases and one video search. You can open every pull from the snapshot links under each table.
