Key takeaways
  • Under 10,000 followers, 1,000 views is good: only 14% of posts from accounts that size reached it, and the median post got 271 views.
  • From 10,000 to 100,000 followers, 1,000 views is low: 86% of posts beat it and the median post got 9,346.
  • Averages mislead. Accounts with 1,000 to 10,000 followers averaged 19,041 views a post, but the median was 257, because one small cooking account had posts of up to 702,300.
  • Under 10,000 followers, follower count barely moved the typical post (275 views under 1,000 followers, 257 at 1,000 to 10,000). The account and the video mattered more.
  • Judge yourself by your own median: take your last 10 posts, skip the ones under 48 hours old and anything pinned, and compare the middle one with your follower band.

Is 1000 views on TikTok good? Yes, if your account has under 10,000 followers. In our September 2026 sample of 70 creators and 625 posts, only 14% of posts from accounts that size reached 1,000 views, and the typical one got 271. Above 10,000 followers, 1,000 is low: 86% of posts from accounts with 10,000 to 100,000 followers beat it.

So the honest answer depends on one number you already know: your follower count. Below are the medians, ranges and the share of posts that reach 1,000 views for each account size, pulled from public TikTok post data this month. There's also a quick way to check whether your own numbers are normal.

Is 1000 views on TikTok good for your account size?

This table sorts every post by the size of the account that posted it. "Median" is the middle post: half got more, half got less. The middle half shows where most posts land, and the last column is the share of posts that reached 1,000 views.

Data: public post counts for 70 TikTok creators in ten niches, last 10 posts each, pulled 21 and 30 September 2026. Posts under 48 hours old and pinned posts left out. Open the benchmarks.

Bar chart of the share of TikTok posts that reached 1,000 views by follower count: 8.8% under 1,000 followers, 19.3% at 1,000 to 10,000, 86.1% at 10,000 to 100,000, 95.3% at 100,000 to 1 million and 100% over 1 million.
Share of posts with 1,000 or more views, by follower count. 70 creators, 625 posts, September 2026.

Read it as a percentile. For an account under 1,000 followers, a 1,000-view post beat 91% of the posts in its band. At 1,000 to 10,000 followers it beat 81%. At 10,000 to 100,000 it beat only 14%, and in the over-1M band no post in our sample got fewer than 1,000 views.

The jump happens around 10,000 followers. Below it, a few hundred views is the normal result, not a sign that something is wrong. Above it, 1,000 views on a post is a real dip worth looking into.

Average TikTok views by follower count

If you search "average TikTok views" you mostly get one number. It's misleading, because a handful of huge posts pull the average far above what a normal post gets. Here are both, next to the thresholds for a strong post.

Median views per post by follower count. The two smallest bands are barely visible next to the big accounts, which is the point.

Look at the 1,000 to 10,000 row. The mean is 19,041, but the median is 257. One cooking account with 3,755 followers had posts at 60,300, 295,800 and 702,300 views, and those three posts lift the whole band's average. If you compare yourself with an average, you're comparing yourself with that account's best week.

The last column shows reach against follower count. Small accounts reach well beyond their followers because the For You feed shows posts to strangers. As accounts grow, the typical post reaches a smaller share: about 5% of followers from 100,000 up. For comparison, Rival IQ's 2024 benchmark report of brand accounts found 43 views per 100 followers under 5,000 followers and 4 per 100 at 200,000 to 1 million, using 374K brand videos from 2023.

Under 10,000 followers, the account matters more than the count

Under 10,000 followers, follower count barely changed the typical post. Accounts under 1,000 had a median post of 275 views, and accounts with 1,000 to 10,000 had 257. That fits what TikTok has said since 2020: follower count is not a direct factor in what the For You feed recommends (TikTok Newsroom).

What did change was the account itself. Among the 13 small accounts, the typical post ranged from 137 views to 295,800. Eleven of the 13 had a median post under 1,000.

Where the account is based seems to matter too. In our 30 September pull, three small nail accounts from the US and Austria had typical posts of 862 to 1,008 views. Five small accounts from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, mostly home bakers, had 137 to 386. Eight accounts can't prove a rule, but it's a good reason to compare yourself with accounts in your own country and niche, not with a global average.

200 views is not a shadowban

A typical post from a small account in our sample got a few hundred views. If yours sit at 150 to 300, you're in the normal range for your size. The views diagnosis guide covers the checks worth doing if they suddenly drop to zero.

How to tell if your own views are good

Compare your posts with your own normal first, then with accounts your size. It takes five minutes.

  1. Take your last 10 posts. Skip anything under 48 hours old, since it's still collecting views, and skip pinned posts.
  2. Find your median. Sort the view counts and take the middle one. That's your typical post, and it's steadier than an average.
  3. Place it in the table. Find your follower band above. Near the median is normal. At or above the top-quarter number is strong for your size.
  4. Spot your standouts. A post with about 10 times your median views is a breakout for your account. The viral guide explains why we use that line.
  5. Check the watch time, not just the count. In TikTok Studio, open a low post and look at Watched full video and Average watch time. Our analytics guide explains each number.

A small account with a median of 300 views and one post at ten times that is doing fine. An account in the 10,000 to 100,000 band with a median of 1,000 is well below its band, and the watch-time numbers will usually say why.

When 1,000 views starts to mean money

For most creators, 1,000 views on one post doesn't pay anything by itself. TikTok's Creator Rewards Program needs an account with at least 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, and it pays only on original videos longer than one minute (TikTok Help Center). A video also needs at least 1,000 qualified views before it earns, according to Metricool's summary of the program.

That lines up with the table. Accounts with 10,000 to 100,000 followers cleared 1,000 views on 86% of their posts, so for them the harder part is making videos longer than a minute that people finish. The Creator Rewards guide has the full rules and what creators report earning.

What gets a small account past 1,000 views

The numbers above say that under 10,000 followers you're mostly at the mercy of each video, not your follower count. So work on the video.

  • Make videos people search for. A video that answers a search can keep finding viewers for months: in our nail research, videos from autumn 2025 still ranked for "brown fall nails" in September 2026. Pick a topic with searches and few videos, and say the phrase in the caption and on screen. The more-views guide walks through it with search numbers.
  • Judge in batches of 10. One post is noise. Compare the median of your next 10 with your last 10.
  • Copy accounts your size that beat the band. Look for accounts under 10,000 followers whose median post is over 1,000, and note what they post. It's a better model than a million-follower creator.
  • Don't panic over one quiet post. A few hundred views is the normal floor at this size. Change one thing at a time, like the topic or the first line, and measure it over the next batch.

If engagement matters more to you than raw views, the engagement rate calculator uses the same 21 September sample to score likes, comments, shares and saves by account size.

How we got these numbers

We combined two pulls of public TikTok post data. The first, from 21 September 2026, is the first 10 accounts TikTok's user search returned for six niches: fitness, cooking, personal finance, skincare, small business and comedy. It leans toward big accounts. So on 30 September we added 16 smaller accounts from searches for crochet, home baker, nail tech and book review, picked by follower band in the order TikTok returned them. For every account we took the last 10 posts and their public view counts.

We left out posts under 48 hours old (95 posts) and pinned posts (5), then kept creators with at least three posts left: 70 creators and 625 posts. Big counts are rounded by TikTok, such as 1.3M. This is a sample of accounts TikTok search surfaced in ten niches, not a census. It doesn't represent brand accounts or ads, and its small bands lean toward South Asian home bakers. Ask TokConnect "what views do nail tech accounts under 10,000 followers get?" and it runs the same pull for your niche.

Frequently asked questions

Is 1,000 views on TikTok viral?

No. For an account under 10,000 followers it's a strong post: in our September 2026 sample, 1,000 views beat 91% of posts from accounts under 1,000 followers and 81% from accounts with 1,000 to 10,000. A post is viral for you when it gets roughly 10 times your usual views. See how to go viral on TikTok.

How many views on TikTok is good?

It depends on your followers. In our sample the median post got 275 views under 1,000 followers, 257 at 1,000 to 10,000, 9,346 at 10,000 to 100,000, 27,600 at 100,000 to 1 million and 173,750 over 1 million. Anything in your band's top quarter is good: 585 or more under 1,000 followers, 834 at 1,000 to 10,000, 33,450 at 10,000 to 100,000.

What is the average number of views on TikTok?

Across all 625 posts in our sample the median was 20,500 views, but the mean was 1,571,043, because a few posts with tens or hundreds of millions of views pull the average up. The median is the better guide. For a small account, the median post got 271 views under 10,000 followers.

Is 10,000 views on TikTok viral?

For a small account, yes. Only 2.6% of posts from accounts under 10,000 followers in our sample reached 10,000 views. For an account with 10,000 to 100,000 followers it's about normal: the median post got 9,346, and 49% of posts reached 10,000.

Does TikTok pay for 1,000 views?

Only through the Creator Rewards Program, which needs 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, and pays on original videos longer than one minute. TikTok doesn't publish a fixed rate per 1,000 views. Our Creator Rewards guide has the rules and what creators report earning.

Why do my TikToks only get 200 views?

For an account under 10,000 followers, 200 to 300 views is the normal result: the median post in that band got 271 in our sample. It isn't a shadowban. If you want more, work on topic and watch time, and check the steps in how to get more views on TikTok.
