How to use TikTok MCP for content research
For TikTok content research, connect TokConnect, because TikTok's official MCP server is ads-only and can't tell you what to film. TokConnect returns the search demand, top videos, comments, transcripts (where TikTok has captions) and creators a content brief needs. Before you start
Why TikTok's official MCP can't cook this alone
TikTok's own MCP server, the TikTok for Business MCP, connects your AI to TikTok Ads. Its help page lists campaign management, performance reporting, audience configuration and creative operations, with about 400 tools on its full endpoint (TikTok Ads Help Center, checked 8 October 2026). That is a full pantry for running ads.
Content research needs different shelves: what people type into TikTok, whether that demand is steady, which videos already win, what viewers ask in the comments, how the winners are structured and who makes them. None of that is on the ads shelf. So you keep the ads server for ads and add TokConnect for the rest.

Not on its own. TikTok's MCP server is for ads: its help page lists campaign management, performance reporting, audience configuration and creative operations. It does not return search demand, public videos or comments, so you add TokConnect, which returns TikTok's search demand, public videos, comments, transcripts where TikTok has captions, and creators.

How we ran this
On 8 October 2026 we ran one session through the TokConnect MCP server (catalog v2.23.9) on the niche "bonsai", in the order shown; one transcript request came back empty. Search figures are TikTok Creator Search Insights' 7-day global search popularity; daily readings come from the charts behind each topic. Video, comment, transcript and account data are what TikTok showed publicly that day. We removed commenter names and kept creator handles only inside the video players.
It is one niche on one day. Daily readings jump around, which is why step 2 exists. Monthly figures in step 3 are medians of daily readings, not totals. TikTok's own topic groups were set aside.
