MomTok means two things. On TikTok it is the parenting community: the #momtok hashtag had about 180 billion lifetime views across 12.1 million videos on 30 September 2026. It is also the name a group of Utah mom influencers gave themselves before Hulu built The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives around them, which is why searches for "momtok" jump when a new season drops.

This page covers both, briefly for the show and in depth for parenting. The biggest typed parenting search on TikTok this week was "ParentingTips", with 440,344 searches in 7 days, followed by "PostpartumBody" (367,289) and "postpartumcare" (310,993). We ran 13 parenting searches through TikTok's own search data on 30 September 2026, kept only the phrases people typed, and list the ones with no videos yet.

What does MomTok mean?

Most people who say MomTok mean mom and parenting TikTok: day-in-the-life videos, postpartum honesty, baby product hauls, toddler meal ideas, parenting scripts and a lot of humor about the chaos. #momtok is the community tag, and #momlife is even bigger. UK and Australian parents also use #mumtok.

The second meaning is a specific friend group. The Hulu reality series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives follows Utah-based TikTok influencers who became known as "MomTok", and it premiered on 6 September 2024 (Wikipedia). Hulu's press site lists eight stars for the current season, including Taylor Frankie Paul, Whitney Leavitt and Jen Affleck, and says season 5 dropped all five episodes at once on 10 September 2026 (Hulu Press). Hulu had already ordered 20 more episodes in November 2025 (TheWrap), and a spinoff, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County, has been announced (Yahoo Entertainment). It streams on Hulu, and on Disney+ for bundle subscribers.

TikTok's own search box shows how much of the demand is about the show. Of the 15 autocomplete suggestions for "momtok", most point at the cast: "momtok official", "original momtok", "og momtok", "momtok drama summary", "momtok season 4", "momtok jen affleck" and "momtok taylor live".

Postpartum is the standout. Seven of the 24 searches are about life after birth, and "Postpartum mom" more than doubled across the week. Daily figures for typed searches swing a lot, so treat one week's change as rough and look for searches that stay high, like "ParentingTips", which never dropped below 218,621 a day and peaked at 669,166.

The biggest MomTok themes right now

Grouped by the job behind them, the typed searches fall into five themes. Each one is a series a parent creator can run.

  • Postpartum, told honestly: "PostpartumBody" (367,289), "postpartumcare" (310,993), "postpartum care" (260,669), "postpartumlife" (209,179), "running postpartum" (179,317) and "Postpartum ocd" (173,952).
  • Baby must-haves: "last minute baby must haves" (211,194), "2nd baby must haves" (185,518), "Baby Must Have" (146,655), "disney baby must haves" (91,409), "baby gear must haves" (76,392) and "traveling with baby must haves" (74,822). People want a list with brand names.
  • Newborn and sleep: "Newborn life" (276,616), "sleep for babies" (246,173), "Sleep baby" (236,576) and "Having a newborn" (54,883).
  • Toddlers: "for toddlers" (280,615), "toddlertoy" (265,979), "Toddler Meals Ideas" (236,681), "ToddlerLife" (201,379) and "abc toddler" (70,006).
  • Mom identity and tips: "ParentingTips" (440,344), "new mom life" (266,619), "life as a mom of 3" (195,702), "calm parenting tips" (97,129) and "MomOfThreeBoys" (62,068).
Baby sleep: stick to the AAP

Two of TikTok's own labels in our pull, "siblings sleeping with babies" and "sleeping with a sick baby", had no videos matched. Leave them empty. The American Academy of Pediatrics says to put babies on their back for every sleep, on a firm, flat surface, with no pillows, blankets, bumpers or soft toys, and to share a room but never a bed (HealthyChildren.org, AAP). If a baby appears in a sleep video, the setup on screen should match that.

Postpartum mental health

"Postpartum ocd" had 173,952 searches this week. Share your own experience if you want to, but leave diagnosis and treatment to professionals and tell viewers who to talk to. The NHS says to speak to a GP, midwife or health visitor, and notes that fathers and partners can have depression after a baby too (NHS).

Parenting searches with almost no videos

A search with real demand and few matched videos is where a new video has the best chance of being found. Our content gap guide explains how to read them. Every idea below works as a talking head or a product flat lay, with no child on camera.

Seasonal demand is already in the data too. TikTok's labels for "family Halloween costume ideas" (3,225,067) and "sibling Halloween costume ideas" (3,425,986, no videos matched) are live, and so are school-lunch labels such as "school lunch packing ideas". Film the making of the costume or the packed lunchbox rather than the kids. For costume demand across TikTok, see our Halloween costumes page.

What the top postpartum and baby product videos do

We checked the top video results for "postpartum essentials" and "baby must haves" on 30 September. Most are product round-ups told to camera, and they earn saves because viewers plan to buy.

  • Long and specific wins saves. The top "postpartum essentials" result is a five-minute video explaining which products to use and how. It has 311,229 plays and 25,192 saves, about 8% of plays. A 3,628,097-play baby-items video in the same pull earned 7,576 saves, about 0.2%.
  • The retailer goes in the caption. "Postpartum recovery products from Walmart I'd 100% buy again" has 530,796 plays and 29,397 saves. Amazon, Walmart and creator storefronts come up again and again, because viewers want to know where to buy.
  • Fresh videos rank. Nine of the ten postpartum results were posted in 2026, and the second baby result went up on 22 September. This niche rewards posting now.

How parent creators and brands can use these searches

  1. Say the search out loud in the first seconds. "Here are my last minute baby must haves" matches what 211,194 people typed this week. Our hooks guide has more openers.
  2. Put the exact words on screen and in the caption. TikTok says it uses captions, sounds and hashtags to understand a video (TikTok Help Center). Then add #momtok or #mumtok and one specific tag.
  3. Keep kids' details off camera. No faces in vulnerable moments, no names, school logos, uniforms or location clues. Products, hands and your own face carry these formats.
  4. Brands: search your own category. "baby gear must haves" started the week at 2,199 a day and ended at 76,392. Ask TokConnect "what are parents searching on TikTok about strollers?" and you get the searches, the video counts and the top videos for your product words.
  5. Disclose paid work. If you pay or gift a parent creator, the FTC says the connection must be clear in the video itself (Disclosures 101). Our influencer-finding guide covers shortlisting.
Ask TokConnect

Which baby and postpartum searches on TikTok grew most this week, and what do the top videos for each one show?

How we got these numbers

On 30 September 2026 we ran 13 parenting searches through TikTok's Creator Search Insights data, 20 topics each (260 topics, 258 distinct), plus two hashtag searches, one autocomplete pull, one 30-day search line and two video searches: 19 calls. We set aside 191 topics at 1.8 million searches and up, which are labels TikTok writes itself to group many searches; all but two of them climbed from 10,002 or less on the first day to millions by the last, on the same curve. From the typed phrases left, we dropped ones unrelated to parenting (the "momtok" search mostly matched unrelated meme searches) and one topic with an identical figure every day, then kept 36 parenting searches. The main table shows the top 24.

"Searches" is TikTok's 7-day search popularity, global, the number Creator Search Insights shows in the TikTok app and at tiktok.com/csi. It is not monthly; our search volume guide explains it. Hashtag views and videos are lifetime totals. Show facts come from Hulu's press site and the news sources linked above, and health guidance only from the AAP and NHS.
