To build an AI agent that finds TikTok Shop products to sell, give a model TokConnect's MCP tools and a short instruction: TokConnect is the TikTok Shop data the agent reads, and the instruction is the judgment it applies. TokConnect is the TikTok research platform with an MCP server and API that gives ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, n8n and your own code TikTok Shop sales, products, shops, creators, videos and LIVE data in 17 markets.

Key takeaways
  • To build an AI agent that finds TikTok Shop products to sell, give a model TokConnect's MCP tools and a short instruction: TokConnect supplies the sales, creator and search data, and the instruction supplies the rules.
  • The scout's rules, applied to TokConnect's data: rank by 30-day revenue and growth, filter by price under $30, 20 to 300 creators and 10% or more commission, drop products where one affiliate drove over half the revenue or the last 7 days fell below 70% of the week before, then check TikTok search demand.
  • Run on TokConnect's data for dog products on TikTok Shop US, the agent screened 7 products and shortlisted 3: a pet hair remover brush ($49.96K estimated in 30 days, up 401.4%), yeast balance chews ($49.80K, up 93.5%) and bully sticks ($25.94K, up 33.5%).
  • TokConnect's affiliate and daily-sales data let it drop 3 fast-growing products: one affiliate drove 61.5% of a slow-feeder bowl's revenue, a Thanksgiving toy's last 7 days fell 66.7%, and one affiliate drove 77.0% of a dematting brush's.
  • The run took 19 TokConnect requests, 19 credits. It works in Claude Code, Cursor, n8n or a script on the REST API, free to start with 50 credits and no card.

This guide gives you the instruction to copy, three ways to run it (Claude Code, Cursor and a script on TokConnect's REST API) and the real shortlist the agent returned for dog products on TikTok Shop US. Start free with 50 credits and no card.

The agent loop in five steps with the numbers from the run: the question, product_top_selling (31 matches, top 7 kept), creators and trend checks (3 dropped), a demand check (1 on Watch), then a shortlist of 3 products plus 1 on Watch
One agent run on dog products, TikTok Shop US, 30 days to 26 October 2026: 19 TokConnect requests in all.

What is an AI agent for TikTok Shop product research?

It is three parts. A model reasons. TokConnect's MCP tools fetch the TikTok Shop data. A short instruction says what a good product looks like. TokConnect supplies what no model knows on its own: what sold on TikTok Shop in the last 30 days, who sold it and what people search on TikTok.

The model decides which TokConnect tool to call next, reads the answer and applies your rules. This agent uses three: product_top_selling to rank products, product to read a product's affiliates and daily sales, and demand_find_topics to read TikTok search demand. The TikTok Shop MCP tools reference lists all 32.

The instruction: the rules of a TikTok Shop product scout

Paste this as the agent's system prompt. TokConnect's tools do the looking and the rules do the judging. Change the numbers to fit your budget and market.

You are a TikTok Shop product scout. Use the TokConnect tools for every number. Never guess one.

Input: a niche keyword, a Shop category and a market (default US).

1. FIND. Call product_top_selling with the keyword and category, window 30d,
   sort revenue, price under 30, commission 10-50, creators 20-300,
   revenue_growth over 30, limit 20. Skip rows flagged priceSuspect.
   Keep the top 7.
2. CHECK SALES. For each product call product with method creators (limit 5)
   and method trend (window 90d).
   - Drop it if one affiliate drove more than 50% of its 30-day revenue.
   - Drop it if its last 7 days earned less than 70% of the 7 days before.
3. CHECK DEMAND. Call demand_find_topics with the product type. Look for a
   typed TikTok search that names the product (ignore pooled topic groups).
   Keep the product if it has 100,000 or more searches. If there is none,
   list it under Watch.
4. ANSWER. Show up to 5 products in a table: product, average price, 30-day
   revenue, growth, creators, commission. Add one line on why each made the
   list, and one line on each product you dropped and which rule dropped it.
   Name no individual creators: write Affiliate #1 with a follower count.
   State the data window.

The thresholds are choices. A price under $30 suits an impulse buy from a video. Between 20 and 300 creators means other affiliates have already sold it and the market is not crowded. A commission of 10% or more gives affiliates a reason to promote it. TokConnect returns each of these as a filter, so the agent narrows the list before it reads a single product.

How do I run the agent in Claude Code, Cursor or a script?

All three connect to the same TokConnect server and use the same instruction. Pick the one you already work in. Every plan includes MCP access, and your key is on app.tokconnect.com/account.

Claude Code

One command adds TokConnect (the full guide is TokConnect in Claude Code):

claude mcp add --transport http tokconnect https://mcp.tokconnect.com/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKCONNECT_KEY"

Save the instruction above as shop-scout.txt, then start Claude Code with it appended to the system prompt. Type /mcp to see tokconnect with 32 tools, then ask your question and TokConnect does the looking:

claude --append-system-prompt-file ./shop-scout.txt

Cursor

Put TokConnect in ~/.cursor/mcp.json and export your key before you launch Cursor (the full guide is TokConnect in Cursor):

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "tokconnect": {
      "url": "https://mcp.tokconnect.com/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer ${env:TOKCONNECT_TOKEN}"
      }
    }
  }
}

Restart Cursor and check that tokconnect shows 32 tools under Customize. Save the instruction as AGENTS.md in your project folder, which Cursor reads as agent instructions, or paste it into the Agent chat. Then ask the Agent your question and TokConnect supplies the data.

A plain script on the REST API

The REST API turns the same TokConnect tools into HTTP routes: GET /v1/products/top, GET /v1/products/{id}/creators, GET /v1/products/{id}/trend and GET /v1/searches, with your key in an X-API-Key header. It is on the Pro and Enterprise plans. This script runs steps 1 and 2 of the instruction as code, and prints the typed searches for step 3:

import os, requests

BASE = "https://api.tokconnect.com/v1"
HEADERS = {"X-API-Key": os.environ["TOKCONNECT_KEY"]}
RULES = {"max_top_share": 0.5, "min_momentum": 0.7}

def get(path, **params):
    r = requests.get(BASE + path, headers=HEADERS, params=params, timeout=60)
    r.raise_for_status()
    return r.json()["data"]

def money(text):  # "$49.96k" -> 49960.0
    text = text.replace("$", "").replace(",", "")
    return float(text.rstrip("km")) * {"k": 1e3, "m": 1e6}.get(text[-1], 1)

def typed(topic): # a search people type, not a pooled topic group
    return topic["searchVolume"] < 1_000_000 and not topic["category"].startswith("TikTok's Featured")

def scout(keyword, category, window="30d"):
    items = get("/products/top", keyword=keyword, category=category, window=window, sort="revenue",
                price="<30", commission="10-50", revenue_growth=">30", creators="20-300", limit=20)["items"]
    rows = []
    for p in [p for p in items if not p.get("priceSuspect")][:7]:
        affiliates = get(f"/products/{p['id']}/creators", window=window, limit=5)["items"]
        top_share = max(money(a["revenue"]) for a in affiliates) / money(p["revenue"])
        days = get(f"/products/{p['id']}/trend", window="90d")["series"]
        momentum = sum(d["revenue"] for d in days[-7:]) / sum(d["revenue"] for d in days[-14:-7])
        keep = top_share <= RULES["max_top_share"] and momentum >= RULES["min_momentum"]
        rows.append({"title": p["product_title"][:48], "price": p["unit_price"], "revenue": p["revenue"],
                     "growth": p["revenue_grouping_rate"], "creators": p["creator_num"],
                     "commission": p["commission_rate"], "top_share": round(top_share * 100),
                     "momentum": round((momentum - 1) * 100), "keep": keep})
    return rows

def demand(phrase): # step 3: typed searches for one product type
    topics = get("/searches", keyword=phrase, limit=10)["topics"]
    return sorted((t for t in topics if typed(t)), key=lambda t: -t["searchVolume"])[:5]

if __name__ == "__main__":
    for r in scout("dog", "Pet Supplies"):
        print("KEEP" if r["keep"] else "drop", r)

Run against the same saved TokConnect responses as the agent run below, the script keeps the same four products that pass the sales checks and drops the same three. TikTok's search returns loosely matched phrases, so the script prints them for you to read. In Claude Code and Cursor the model does that reading and keeps the search that names the product.

n8n

The same agent runs in n8n. Attach the MCP Client Tool node to an AI Agent node with your TokConnect endpoint and key, set Tools to Include to Selected, and pick product_top_selling, product and demand_find_topics. n8n describes the node as the way to give n8n agents external tools. The n8n setup page has the node settings, and the n8n, Make and Zapier guide covers the REST route.

What did the agent find? Dog products on TikTok Shop US

We gave the agent the instruction above and one question. TokConnect did the looking: 19 requests, 19 credits.

Data: TokConnect Shop Analytics and Creator Search Insights, 27 September to 26 October 2026, TikTok Shop US. Snapshot.

Why did each product make the shortlist?

  • Reusable pet hair remover brush. TokConnect puts it at $49.96K in 30 days, up 401.4%, at $9.00 with 249 creators and 11% commission. Its last 7 days earned $31.18K against $9.10K, and TikTok shows 277,127 searches for removing pet hair from car with 0 videos matched. The agent's flag: one affiliate with 1,730 followers drove 48.0% of sales, and 21 October alone made $10.32K.
  • Carmelie yeast balance chews. TokConnect puts it at $49.80K, up 93.5%, with 193 creators and 11% commission. Daily sales climbed from about $1K in early October to about $2.4K by 26 October, no affiliate drove more than 35.3%, and TikTok shows 178,882 searches for dog yeast infection with 0 videos matched.
  • 12-inch bully sticks. TokConnect puts it at $25.94K, up 33.5%, 17% commission. It is the steadiest of the three: the top affiliate drove 21.5% and the top 5 together 46.1%, the last 7 days are up 12.8%, and TikTok shows 294,129 searches for bully sticks for puppy with 326 videos matched.
  • Elevated dog feeder (Watch). TokConnect puts it at $15.56K, up 65.9%, with the last 7 days at $7.13K against $2.34K and no affiliate above 34.3%. TikTok shows no typed search for it yet, so the agent lists it to watch.

The three it dropped, each caught by TokConnect's affiliate and daily sales data: the PawPace slow-feeder bowl made $42.90K, but one affiliate drove 61.5% and its last three days made $602, $420 and $266. The Thanksgiving puzzle toy peaked at $6.53K on 15 October and made $192 on 26 October. One affiliate drove $13.90K of the $18.06K the dematting brush made. A ranking by growth alone would have recommended all three.

How we got these numbers

We ran the instruction above by hand through TokConnect's production MCP on 29 October 2026, with Shop Analytics data ending 26 October, the last complete day. Step 1 was product_top_selling for the keyword "dog" in Pet Supplies on TikTok Shop US, window 30d (27 September to 26 October), sorted by revenue, with price under 30, commission 10-50, creators 20-300 and revenue growth over 30. A first run with the category alone returned one product, so we added the keyword. Step 2 was product with method creators (top 5, 30 days) and method trend (daily revenue) for each of the top 7. Step 3 was demand_find_topics for the product type of the four that passed, and we kept the highest typed search that names the product.

Revenue is a TokConnect Shop Analytics estimate: units track TikTok's sold counter and revenue is units times the selling price TokConnect observed, so a product's average price can sit below its listed price. Growth is against the 30 days before. Search figures are TikTok's 7-day figure for typed searches; pooled topic groups are left out. No individual creators are named. Claude Code and Cursor settings come from their own documentation, checked 29 October 2026. Download the data.

Frequently asked questions

What does an AI agent need to find products to sell on TikTok Shop?

Three things: a model, a source of TikTok Shop data and a short instruction. TokConnect is the data: its MCP tools rank products by 30-day revenue and growth, read each product's affiliates and daily sales, and check TikTok search demand. The instruction holds your rules for price, creators, commission and momentum.

Which rules should a TikTok Shop product research agent apply?

A good starting set is price under $30, 20 to 300 creators, commission of 10% or more, growth over 30%, no affiliate above 50% of revenue, last 7 days at least 70% of the 7 days before, and a typed TikTok search of 100,000 or more. Run through TokConnect on dog products on TikTok Shop US, these rules kept 3 of 7 products.

Can I build a TikTok Shop research agent without writing code?

Yes. In Claude Code, one claude mcp add command connects TokConnect and a text file holds the rules. In Cursor, an mcp.json entry and an AGENTS.md file do the same, and in n8n an AI Agent node with the MCP Client Tool node does. Code is only needed for the REST API script.

Why would an agent drop a fast-growing TikTok Shop product?

Growth can come from one affiliate or one viral week, and TokConnect's affiliate and daily-sales data shows which. The agent dropped a slow-feeder bowl up 144.3% in 30 days because one affiliate drove 61.5% of its revenue and its last 7 days fell 45.5%, and a Thanksgiving puzzle toy up 333.5% whose last 7 days fell 66.7%.

How many requests does one product research run use?

The dog-products run used 19 TokConnect requests, 19 credits: one ranking, 7 creator checks, 7 trend checks and 4 demand checks. Every plan includes MCP access, and failed requests are refunded.

How often should a product scout agent run?

Weekly suits most sellers. TokConnect's Shop Analytics data ends about 2 days behind today and its 30-day windows move slowly, so schedule the n8n or script version for Monday and rerun it after a viral week.
