TikTok trends week of 21 October 2026, in a line: rap gossip, a Greek myth and the first fall shopping lists. The fastest-rising real search was nevaeh and nba yb, up 931% to 3,057,316, with only 104 videos. The biggest was nyfw outfits at 4,867,859, even though it slipped 18%. The surprise: tsoa book, BookTok's shorthand for The Song of Achilles, up 570%, almost all of it on Wednesday.

The big three: rap gossip, a Greek myth and fall shopping

A note first. The top line in the data is brady on a budget again, at 1,262%, but its seven daily readings match our last issue number for number, so we left it out.

1. "nevaeh and nba yb", up 931%

"nevaeh and nba yb" went from 296,488 to 3,057,316, the third-biggest real search of the week, with just 104 matching videos. It zigzagged for six days, never above 848,054, then more than quadrupled on Wednesday.

It is celebrity gossip. Nevaeh, a streamer best known as rapper Blueface's partner, in September confirmed a past relationship with rapper NBA YoungBoy. Two of its three top videos went up on 14 and 15 October, one of them a clip from a new interview. The Wednesday jump itself has no clear cause.

Our read: 104 videos looks like a gap, but it is a gap about real people's private lives. Unless you cover rap news, let it pass.

2. "tsoa book", up 570%

"tsoa book" rose from 199,100 to 1,334,632, with 393 videos. Treat it as one big day: it fell to 56,871 on Saturday, was at 113,543 on Tuesday, then grew nearly 12 times on Wednesday.

TSOA is The Song of Achilles, Madeline Miller's novel about Achilles and Patroclus and a BookTok favourite. We found no news behind the jump, so no clear cause, and no screen version to blame: a planned TV series fell apart, its would-be director said in 2024, and we found no adaptation announced since. The top video for the search is from May.

Film "read this if you loved The Song of Achilles": three books, cover on screen, one line each, no spoilers. Say "Song of Achilles" out loud so TikTok search can read it. Keep it under 40 seconds.

3. "Amazon fall must haves", up 546%

"Amazon fall must haves" is smaller but steadier. It rose four days in a row, from 27,686 to 143,328, fell by more than half on Tuesday, then nearly tripled on Wednesday to 178,910. Only 269 videos match it.

No clear cause in the news. Our read: it is the season. Halloween is ten days away, and people want the cosy list before the cold arrives. The top video is a year old, a sweater haul posted in October 2025, with 34,200 saves.

Meanwhile Home Decoration Finds fell 38% and finished below it. Our read: people are shopping for themselves, not the shelf. Film "five Amazon fall finds under one price", product in hand, price on screen, and say "Amazon fall must haves" in the first line. Twenty to 30 seconds. Neither is new: a search that wakes up sends people to whatever already answers it. We left out the "nevaeh and nba yb" clips, which are gossip about real people.

TikTok's topic labels: a halftime rumour and a famous racehorse

TikTok also writes its own topic labels, which fold many searches into one phrase, so their figures are topic sizes, not searches. delores hotdog bun shows up again at 8,451,734 with the same readings as before, so it stays out.

super bowl halftime 2027 announcement grew 1,605% to 8,385,437, and only 108 videos match it. It jumped more than tenfold on 18 October, then climbed again on the last two days. On 20 October, Consequence reported, citing Puck, that Jay-Z had picked himself to headline; neither the NFL nor Jay-Z had confirmed it. The 18 October jump came before that report and has no clear cause.

gold ship cribbing grew 1,242% to 4,704,488, nearly all of it on the last two days. Gold Ship is a famously moody Japanese racehorse and a character in the game Umamusume: Pretty Derby. Cribbing, says Ohio State, is a horse grabbing something with its teeth and sucking in air. Why now: no clear cause.

2026 Dance Trend is the cleanest line here: it rose every day, from 675,667 to 6,266,726. airport outfit exchange and kurage sirena did nearly all their growing on 20 October, airport outfit exchange from 922,807 to 10,141,585. No clear cause for either.

The biggest TikTok searches, week of 21 October

TikTok search popularity on the last reading of the week, and the change from the first reading. We left out brady on a budget, whose readings repeat our last issue. Source: weekly snapshot.

"nyfw outfits" leads, bouncing 55% on Wednesday after a low of 3,148,744. Two of the top six are hair. The spread in videos is the real story: travel tiktoks has 45,259 videos, while nevaeh and nba yb has 104. And Scuba Dance Challenge, the nose-pinch dance set to h5wk's "Scuba Juke", first posted in October 2025, jumped from 696,369 to 1,920,791 on Tuesday. No clear cause for the jump.

What faded: anime takes a week off

Three of the six fading searches are anime. New Anime fell 45% to 327,236. Me in anime fell 43% to 1,200,339, dropping on each of the last three days. my anime type fell 38% to 1,655,865, with 17,323 videos. Our read: the "which character am I" wave is resting, not over.

Free idea of the week: reno before and after

TikTok flags reno before and after as a content gap: a topic of 16,770,810 on TikTok's figure with zero matching videos. Its neighbour on the list, living room redesign boyfriend, is 18,409,990 with zero videos too. Put them together and you have a format.

• Hook: "He said the living room was fine. Here is the before."
• Format: shoot the before and the after from the exact same spot, phone on a tripod or a shelf. Three seconds of before, a fast cut through the work, then the reveal held for a full beat. Say "reno before and after" out loud and put it on screen.
• Length: 20 to 30 seconds. End on "which one would you live in?" to pull comments.
