Keyword Tool TikTok: a KeywordTool.io review and alternatives

KeywordTool.io's TikTok tool is very good at finding the words people type and much weaker at telling you how many people type them. It pulls 750 or more TikTok autocomplete phrases per seed for free, and its paid plans, from $88 a month as of 5 October 2026, add search volumes that KeywordTool.io says are "computed using clickstream data obtained from third-party data providers", not TikTok's own counts.

That is our short review of Keyword Tool TikTok, the tool a logged-out ChatGPT named second when we asked it on 5 October 2026 how to see TikTok search volume. To test the idea behind it, we pulled TikTok's autocomplete for 10 seeds and checked the phrases against TikTok's own 7-day search counts. We make TokConnect, one of the alternatives below, so weigh our view accordingly. We have not used KeywordTool.io's paid plans; everything about it comes from its public pages, checked 5 October 2026.

How Keyword Tool's TikTok tool works

The method is on its TikTok page. It appends "your seed keyword with other letters and numbers" and extracts every TikTok autocomplete suggestion that comes back. The free tier pulls "750+ TikTok queries per seed" with no account.

The paid plans, called Keyword Tool Pro, add "search volume estimates and trend data spanning up to 12 months". The TikTok page also lists cost per click and competition, and says it "supports all locations and languages that are offered by TikTok". You can copy results to CSV or Excel, or connect the tool to an AI app through its API or MCP server.

That last point is a real strength. KeywordTool.io covers 16 platforms on every plan, so a team that researches Google, YouTube, Amazon and TikTok together gets one tool and one export format.

Where its TikTok search volume comes from

KeywordTool.io is open about this. Its Pro page says Google and Bing volumes come from those platforms' own keyword planners, and that for other platforms it gives "reliable estimates based on clickstream data". Its help article names TikTok among the platforms whose volume "is computed using clickstream data obtained from third-party data providers".

Clickstream data generally means browsing data from a sample of users, scaled up to estimate everyone. It can rank phrases sensibly, but it is a model of TikTok search, not TikTok's count. TikTok publishes its own counts only in Creator Search Insights, as a 7-day figure, global unless you pick a country. Google-style tools usually report a monthly average, so even a perfect estimate would be on a different clock.

What autocomplete sees vs what TikTok counts

We pulled TikTok's autocomplete for 10 creator seeds on 5 October 2026, the same source KeywordTool.io says it reads. Then we took one long-tail suggestion per seed and looked it up in TikTok's own search data.

Only "pickleball paddle for beginners" came back word for word. For the rest, TikTok counted a different wording of the same idea. That matters because TikTok matches videos to what people type, so the wording you put in a caption should be the one with the searches.

The clean girl nails search shows the gap best. Autocomplete offered "nail ideas clean girl". TikTok's closest record, "nails ideas clean girl", had 2,599 searches, while "short clean girl nails" had 245,826, about 95 times more. An autocomplete list tells you all four exist; it cannot tell you which one to use.

Broad seeds return TikTok's topic groups

For the seeds themselves, TikTok returned 200 topics and only 21 were typed searches. The rest were topic groups TikTok writes to pool many searches, such as "sourdough starter feeding and timing", each between 1,845,246 and 4,810,293. "halloween costume ideas", "sourdough starter", "crochet for beginners", "pickleball paddle" and "budget travel" returned none at all.

Those group figures are not searches for any one phrase, so never put one next to a single-keyword estimate. Start from specific seeds and use the typed records.

How three typed searches moved over 30 days

"pickleball paddle for beginners" fell from 338,172 on 28 September to 69,977 a week later. A 12-month estimate smooths that out; the daily series shows the drop as it happens.

How we got these numbers

All TikTok figures were pulled on 5 October 2026 through TokConnect's MCP server. For 10 creator seeds chosen before we saw results, we ran search_topics (20 topics) and search_suggestions (10 autocomplete phrases). We then ran search_topics on one long-tail suggestion per seed and search_popularity with a 30-day window for three typed searches. Searches are TikTok's 7-day global search popularity; daily figures are TikTok's own series, sampled and rounded by TikTok. A record counts as a topic group, not a typed search, if its 7-day figure is 5,000,000 or more, or 1,000,000 or more with the week's first reading under 5% of its last, or TikTok files it as Featured Content.

We did not run these phrases through KeywordTool.io itself, so the table compares TikTok's autocomplete with TikTok's counts, not with KeywordTool.io's estimates. Vendor facts come from public pages read on 5 October 2026. Data: topics, autocomplete, 30-day series, vendor facts.
