Your week is creator outreach, briefs, LIVE, ads, and reconciling three dashboards that do not talk to each other. Every tool you pay for answers one question: what sold last week, estimated. None of them tells you what buyers typed into TikTok's search bar looking for it. This is a TikTok Shop research tool for that half: live search demand, the product questions nobody has answered on video yet, and the objections sitting under a competitor's post.

What you'd ask on day one

Three prompts, run on 19 September 2026 against real categories. Swap in your own.

We sell lip care. Pull TikTok's search topics for lip balm, lip gloss and lip liner, and show me the biggest ones by searches in the last 7 days with how many videos already cover each.

Fifty-nine topics came back across the three searches. The top one ran from 390,939 to 10,858,785 over its seven-day series and still has no videos matched to it.

Questions with no video

Find product questions in home and beauty that people search on TikTok but nobody has made a video for. Give me the topic, the 7-day search count and the category.

Every row shows zero videos. The lip-liner search also returned nine shade numbers with no videos each, from "Lip liner 920" at 346,126 searches down to "lip liner 23" at 150,524. If buyers search your shade codes, that is a listing decision as much as a content one.

What buyers object to

Try this prompt in Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor with TokConnect connected

Find the most-liked TikTok video for "cordless vacuum review" and read fifty comments. What are buyers objecting to, and what are they asking that the video does not answer?

The top result was a Dyson-versus-Bissell comparison with 4.8M views, 12,600 likes and 398 comments. Across the first 50:

  • Missing link, 8. "Where's the link??", "how do i get the coupons?"
  • Test not trusted, 7. "Now do it without the obvious edit before the shake."
  • Suction, 6, split both ways: "I have that Dyson and everything here is true."
  • Battery life, 5. "My Dyson has a five minute battery life lol" took 88 likes.
  • Price, 2, but the loudest: "I'm so so so disappointed in the overpriced Dyson!" at 195 likes.
  • Wanted a different comparison, 3. "Can we see Bissell vs. Shark??"

Ten of the fifty were straight questions. That is your next script, and your next FAQ block.

One number to read correctly. A video count of zero does not mean TikTok has no vacuum videos. It means TikTok has matched no videos to that exact topic, and that zero is the signal behind its content-gap badge. What the badge means.

How it fits your week

  1. Connect once. Sign in, copy your key, paste one config block into the assistant you already use. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Gemini all work. The connect page has the steps; Claude Desktop takes about two minutes.
  2. Ask on planning day. Run the demand check before you brief creators, not after. The three prompts above took under a minute each.
  3. Save the answer. Paste the table into your brief with the date on it. Search popularity moves week to week, so a dated table is also a record of what was rising when you launched.

The figures come from TikTok's own Creator Search Insights and from TikTok search, pulled live at the moment you ask. Search popularity is searches over the last seven days, global unless a country is picked; the video count is how many videos TikTok lists for that topic. Full definitions.

What it does not do: no Shop sales, no GMV, no units, no revenue. It does not post, schedule, run ads, pull transcripts or touch anything behind a login, including yours. It reads what TikTok already shows in public, and it is not affiliated with TikTok.

Straight answers

"Search volume doesn't tell me if it sells. I need GMV."

Right, and we do not have it. Keep the sales-estimate tool you pay for. What it cannot tell you is that 219,921 people searched for the best cordless vacuum for pet hair last week and no video is matched to that search. That is a brief, for one credit.

"Isn't this scraping? TikTok's terms ban automated collection."

Section 5 of TikTok's terms does prohibit automated scripts collecting from the Services, and it is worth reading yourself. TokConnect runs its own infrastructure and you connect with a TokConnect key, not your TikTok login. It never touches your seller account, your ad account or your shop, and it never posts. That is the honest shape of it, and it is not legal advice.

"Creator Search Insights is free in the app. Why pay?"

Use it, it is the source. It has no export, no history and no API, in the app or at tiktok.com/csi. What you are paying for is twenty topics as a table you can paste into a brief, and an agent that can read the numbers while it drafts.

"An AI agent will just make things up."

It can, when it is guessing from training data. Connected to a data source it stops guessing: every figure here is a saved response with the tool name, the arguments and the date, linked under each table. Open one and check it against your app.

The plan that fits

One tool call is one credit, and a new account gets 100 free with no card. A weekly routine for one product line runs about 10 to 14 credits: three or four category searches, four or five topic openings, a video search and a comment pull. Across three or four lines that is 40 to 55 a week, so roughly 200 a month. Growth at $99 for 3,000 credits covers that with room for a deep dig before a launch, a rival sweep, or a second market. One product line checked monthly fits Starter at $49 for 1,000. Compare the plans.

Guides for sellers

Questions ecommerce and tiktok shop sellers ask

Does this show TikTok Shop sales or GMV?

No, and we will not pretend otherwise. There are no GMV estimates, no units sold and no revenue figures here. Kalodata, FastMoss, EchoTik and Shoplus all model those from public signals, and TikTok's own Seller Center has your real numbers for your own shop. This covers the other half: what people are searching for on TikTok, how many videos already answer each search, and what buyers are saying in the comments.

Is there a free tool for TikTok Shop research?

Several, with limits. Seller Center analytics are free but cover your own shop only, and TikTok's own documentation says no competitor data or search demand analysis is included. Creative Center is free, but its Keyword Insights are advertising keywords, not organic search. Creator Search Insights is free in the TikTok app and at tiktok.com/csi, with no export and no API. TokConnect starts at 100 free credits.

I already pay for Kalodata. Why add this?

Because they answer different questions. Kalodata estimates what sold; this shows what people asked for. A product with rising search and no videos answering it is a content brief you can act on this week, and no sales-estimate tool reports it. Keep both if the sales side matters to you.

How accurate are the search numbers?

They are TikTok's own figures, not a model. Search popularity is the count TikTok shows on a topic page in Creator Search Insights: searches over the last seven days, global unless a country is picked. Every number on this page links to the saved response it came from, with the tool name, the arguments and the date.
