ChatGPT developer mode lists OAuth, No Authentication and Mixed Authentication for MCP apps, and OpenAI's authentication guide says ChatGPT cannot present custom API keys. TokConnect authenticates only with a static bearer key and has no OAuth flow, so ChatGPT cannot use it directly yet. One GitHub issue (16 September 2026) reports an 'Access token / API key' choice in the dialog; it cites no documentation and is contradicted by OpenAI's docs as last modified 27 September 2026. Not tested inside ChatGPT.",

A client that adds https://mcp.tokconnect.com/mcp with no key gets HTTP 401 with a resource_metadata pointer, discovers the authorization server at https://app.tokconnect.com (/.well-known/oauth-authorization-server), registers itself by dynamic client registration and sends the user to a TokConnect consent page (continue with Google, Allow). PKCE is required. The connection spends the user's credits like an API key (one tool call = one credit) and is listed, with a Disconnect option, under Connected apps on app.tokconnect.com. ChatGPT's supported auth for developer-mode apps (OAuth; see facts 'auth-options' and 'no-custom-api-keys') now matches TokConnect.
